2. 75,000 years ago - Lake Toba, Sumatra, Indonesia (This eruption plunged the Earth into a volcanic winter, eradicating an estimated 60% of the human population and was responsible for the formation of sulfuric acid in the atmosphere.)

4. 640,000 years ago - Yellowstone Caldera, Wyoming, United States

5. 2,100,000 years ago - Island Park Caldera, Idaho/Wyoming, United States

6. 4,500,000 years ago – Kilgore Tuff, Idaho, United States

VEI 7 Eruptions

- These type of eruptions are less-severe, but still powerful, and have occurred in the geological past.
