Are You Ready For the Universal Internet ID the Government Wants To Impose On All Of Us?

Is a Universal Internet ID that is Issued and Controlled by the U.S. Government a  Good Idea?

Excerpt:
These "trusted identities" are being touted as a way to increase safety and security on the Internet and as a way to eliminate the need for dozens of different usernames and passwords.  But is a universal Internet ID that is issued and controlled by the U.S. Government really a good idea?  Right now, Obama administration officials are trying to make it seem as non-threatening as possible.  They are insisting that it will not be mandatory.  They are insisting that it would be impossible for hackers to steal the universal Internet identities.  They are insisting that none of our personal information will be gathered or used by federal agencies.  But in light of how regularly the government has abused our liberties and freedoms in recent years in the name of "security", should we really believe what they are saying about this new universal Internet ID?

The Obama administration is developing a "universal Internet ID" program that would watch, track, monitor and potentially control your activity on the Internet.
Perhaps to assuage concerns about "Big Brother", the Obama administration is proposing that the U.S. Commerce Department be the one to oversee these new universal Internet identities.
But how long do you think it would take for the Department of Homeland Security (along with several dozen other government agencies) to get involved in "administering" these "trusted identities"?
The potential for government abuse of such a system is absolutely staggering.  As we have seen so many times over the past few years, when you give government bureaucrats an inch, often they end up taking several miles.
The video posted below is an excerpt from a CBS News report about these proposed universal Internet identities....
So what are some of the other potential problems of such a system?
Well, by creating a "master key" to the Internet for each and every individual, if it is lost or stolen you could literally lose everything you have worked so hard for in a single day.  Imagine what could happen if a very evil hacker gained instant access to your bank account, your credit cards, your Paypal account, your email, your Facebook account, your Twitter account, your Ebay account, your Amazon account, your blogs, your websites and everything else of importance on the Internet that belongs to you.
Just imagine the damage that could be done.
In addition, it would only be a matter of time before this universal Internet ID becomes "a de facto national ID".
In fact, it is not hard to imagine that "in the name of security" Americans would soon be required to link the universal Internet ID to biometric information or even link it to a microchip implant of some sort.
Of course this new program is going to "start out as voluntary", but how many times before has the government introduced "voluntary" programs that later became mandatory?
Once this universal Internet ID is implemented, it is only going to be a matter of time until many different federal agencies and a significant percentage of large corporations begin demanding that people start using it.  Eventually it would become extremely difficult to function on the Internet without one.  Once that point arrives, it would only be a very small step to make it mandatory for everyone.
Of course right now the Obama administration insists that it is "doing us a favor" by creating a system that would enable us to be able to get rid of the dozens of usernames and passwords that we all use now.
But what all of this really sounds like is the kind of Internet controls that are being imposed in places like China.
The truth is that a universal Internet ID would give the U.S. Government more power to license, monitor and police the Internet than they have ever had before.
In fact, some talking heads on the major news networks are already touting this new identification system as a way to "tone down" the "vicious" rhetoric on the Internet.
Of course what that really means is that they want to shut up a lot of the dissenting voices out there because they are not "politically correct" and they don't agree with the version of the "truth" that the establishment media is constantly pushing.
Hopefully the American people will realize that a universal Internet ID controlled by the government would be another gigantic step in the direction of becoming a Big Brother police stateUnfortunately, the American people have not been doing a great job of standing up for liberty and freedom at this point.  There was an initial uproar when the new "naked body scanners" were installed at U.S. Airports and when airport officials started feeling up our private areas as part of the new "enhanced pat-downs", but most Americans seem to have accepted these "new security procedures" at this point.
So now the Obama administration is ready to push even further.  They want to put a chokehold on the last great bastion of free speech in America - the Internet.
Someday if you have to get a license from the U.S. government to read articles like this or to write articles like this, don't say that you weren't warned.

IF there is a Security Application to protect Americans from ID theft, it can be utilized in the FREE market. This is MORE lies by the Liberal Socialist Party to TARGET anyone who gets in their way of their Agenda. Americans want a FREE Republic not Socialism and a Banana Republic

Hooray for the incoming police state! Thank you 65,182,692 people that voted for Obama in 2008! Thank you!

"Safety & Security"…..where has we heard all of this before? Let's see Patriot Act, pat-downs at airports.

    Stop with the propaganda!
It's the Republicans that want to rob Americans
    blind.
Take away this and than Social Security.
    You stink!
  • We consider how the Internet was originally a project commissioned by Al Gore.
WE mark the difference between 'consensus' and choice.
And we preserve the individual destiny of all those who are dissenting to these measures in the name of the true law.

George Orwell was right. He was just off by about 27 years.
Next will be the RFID chip (I think that's what it's called). It will be sold to you as a means of "security" and "protecting yourself". It will be involuntary at first, and then become mandatory.
Eventually, one person will have total access to literally everything you do in your daily life. He/she will decide what you will eat, where you will work, how much you will earn. Read the book of Revelation.
  • It will be used to identify anyone who disagrees with the government on issues such as 'climate change'. Obama plans to waste $2.48 BILLION in 2011 on this hoax.
  • Whew, I'm so glad I voted for "hope & change" oBOMBa. He's such a refreshing change from The Deciderer & Unckie Dick!

I don't think this is going to be much of an issue in the long run. Anybody paying attention knows at lest from an economic strand point people are going to be hard put to keep food on the table. Let alone keep cell phones on, cable bills paid and surf the web. Oh BTW if you need some else to worry about there are two articles from Der Spiegel On line. The first is about the specter of inflation in Europe, the second is about Africa splitting apart, in a few million years.
    Have a happy nightmare.
  • We've already passed the tipping point. Technology has enabled the governemnt and corporations to shackle us as slaves as much so as physical irons could.

  • Norton Internet Security is installed on my newest computer. It keeps asking me to exchange all my passwords for their master key.
Guess who Barack Obama is in bed with this time?
  • I'm always amazed at how people react so indignantly when they see surveillance cameras on the street but can't wait to pump out information about themselves to millions of people. Security risk…

Its happening people you all better go read the book of Revelation and educate your brains… we ARE living in the end times. I'm just sitting back watching all these things unfold and waiting for Jesus to come :) . If you want to know more of whats going on in this government go to You-Tube and pull up the Denver Airport Conspiracy your mind will be blown and its all true I have been there a few times

The need of the rulers of our country to monitor and control every aspect of our lives truly has me mystified!
The fear they have of rebellion must really be huge!
The sheeple for the most part will never speak up or lift a finger to help stop the tyranny of our out of control goverment!

We know that it will become more and more oppressive and invasive. We know that it going to happen because it already has happened with the driver license.
Initially the driver license was issued once it was determined that you were able to safely drive a motor vehicle. Now, you can hardly do anything without it. Every place you go someone wants to see your driver license. In some jurisdictions you can be denied a license for failing to pay child support, failure to pay traffic and other fines (including library fines), being a non-resident alien, and for other "offenses".
It's already the policy in many if not all states to deny the issuance of a fishing and hunting license when one is behind on his/her child support payments.
What are you going to do when the U. S. Government or your state or local government denies you the use of your Internet ID because of some "offense" you've committed, or when your late on your child support or student loan payments; when you have too many parking tickets that haven't been paid; when your credit rating get too low; when your insurance company cancels your policy; or when it has been arbitrarily determined that you should just not be using the Internet?

I think this is not a bad idea after all.
To make it efficient the number should be universal allowing group of numbers for the EU, China, South America, North Korea, Cuba, etc. The number should be imprinted in our forehead using a nice font and colors to match the ethnic background of the person, for example I live in Florida so I want some tropical colors, Germans will probably like the color gray, etc.
I am positive that if "asked" Steve Ballmer from MS will donate free of charge the licenses to Kinect so using such technology our forehead can be scanned, proper identification established and by capturing the position of our eye brow our mood also determined.
    Imagine the positive possibilities:
If after seen a discourse of our maximum leader OBAMA, Kinect establishes that our mood is not proper then the system can automatically make a reservation for us to the nearest "mood correction / indoctrination center".
    No more passports.
    No more Social Security numbers.
    No more nasty passwords.
No more getting in line to vote in elections. By getting a mathematical algorism to determine our mood for the last 4 years the system will automatically choose the candidates that best correlate to our mood.
After all the countries in the world are converted to the new system using another complex algorithm will determine the maximum world capacity to sustain the best number of inhabitants, older citizens (like me) will be automatically selected to participate "voluntarily" in the "world de-population program" and converted to "SOYLENT GREEN".
    BON APPETITE!!!
  • Before everyone gets on board for this nefarious deed, we the people demand….WHERE IS THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?? Otherwise, there is nothing more to discuss.
  •  Guido
They do that, and you know it won't be long before people start selling fakes. All you need is to get some guy's chip, password, or whatever when he dies and you're off and running. And some smart guy will be selling bootleg or alternative internet access in a second.
  •  Cathy
Oh get off the "liberal socialist" stuff please!
President Bush signed into law everything that was needed to monitor use of the internet with the excuse it was to protect the "homeland". We gave up many rights before President Obama took the oath of office. He is continuing many of the programs, but he did not initiate them. We are becoming more of a police state, all in the name of "national security". It doesn't have a liberal
or conservative agenda, it's all about control and power.
  •  Jim
All of you Glenn Beck inspired paranoids have completely lost your minds.
  •  JF
Jim, Glen Beck people paranoid. These things are happening right before our eyes and you still will deny it. There is no difference between Republicans and Democrats. They are both controlled by the Globalists and will do their bidding. People open your eyes!
  •  Jan
Geez..Where would our Gov. go to secure all of the technology this venture would have to include?
For God's sakes another project where they will have to create an agency who hire huge companies, pay big bucks and ultimately find it out of reach economically and technically. A good example of this is the "scrapped the virtual fence"
$400 billion + in less than 5 yrs a completion date that was off by several years and all of a sudden GONE.
And it's about our security? Secure the border then come talk to me about the internet…lol
  •  Sean
Does this mean my 90-year-old grandmother will have to buy a computer? Ha
