Update: Nov. 3rd X-Class Flare and CME | |
The X-class flare erupted last night 11/3/11 with a peak time at 20:27 UT from sunspot region 1339, located near the eastern limb of the Sun. Shortly after a fast halo CME (coronal mass ejection) was visible in the LASCO C2 satellite, first visible at 23:12 UT after a long data-gap. STEREO COR2 data indicates it is a fast farside CME. STEREO B EUVI-195 beacon data show two activated active regions that can be both related to the farside event. The CME caused the GOES 13 proton flux levels to rise gradually, but the fluxes remained below the SEP (level 5) event threshold. |
