UPDATED: 1:47 pm EDT September 12, 2011
Anne Arundel County fire officials said a 56-year-old man had to be rescued from a car that fell in a sinkhole that formed in the Davidsonville area.
Crews were called to a washed-out portion of Patuxent River Road near Queen Anne Bridge Road around 7:30 a.m. Monday.
The sinkhole formed from the heavy rains associated with Tropical Storm Lee from last week. County officials said the sinkhole was well-marked and blocked off, but the man drove around the barricade.
Officials said the sinkhole was about 20 feet by 30 feet in diameter and about 10 feet deep.
