The Guardian puts the numbers at yesterday's protest at 8,000, with some 300 people arrested (and a number detained for 15 days) — certainly one of the largest anti-government protests in recent memory.
Perhaps today could be even bigger? Either way, police appear to be taking no chances this evening in Moscow, with reports of 4,000 police and interior ministry troops in the city center and sightings of water cannons.
