Al-Qaeda appeared on Friday to confirm the death of its founder Osama bin Laden,
and warned of retaliation against the US, saying that Americans’ “happiness will turn to sadness”.

A statement attributed to the Islamist terrorist group and posted on the internet said bin Laden’s blood would not be “wasted”, and the organisation would continue the fight against the US and its allies. The message, signed by al-Qaeda’s “general leadership”, said the death would be a “curse” for the US and called for an uprising in Pakistan.
