CHICO, Calif. -- The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning Wednesday evening for rural areas near Chico after multiple tornadoes were seen moving through the area.
The weather service's Sacramento bureau issued the warning at 5:16 p.m., after receiving reports of two possible tornadoes been seen from law enforcement agents in Glen County -- one was seen northeast of Willows, the other south of Hamilton City.
At 5:32 p.m., the weather service's doppler radar continued to indicate a tornado on the ground 11 miles southwest of Chico moving east at 15 mph. A second tornado was reported 3 miles south of Ordbend and moving to the east at 15 mph.
