Thanks Pam.. but we'll be much safer in our well fortified house than out there in the insane Miami traffic with everybody else! And actually we were told that if we evacuated, to go west, but not very far as it would cause traffic gridlock. They're wanting those who don't feel safe to go now, rather than wait till the last minute, just in case.
We installed the best accordion shutters available and safer roof after we rebuilt our house from Hurricane Andrew. I know we'll be personally safe.. it's just the mess of getting prepared, which we have to stick around to do.. and then the mess to clean up afterwards and being without electricity for awhile afterwards which I dread.
The evacuation is not mandatory - it appears - but 'recommended'. My daughter and her family, who live in a lower lying area, and closer to the Bay, probably will come over here to stay with us as it would be safer than her house.
Actually, I'm more worried about my sons Warren in Hollywood and Keith in Coral Springs as they are in the next county north, and seems this storm will be north of us. Keith's wife is expecting her third baby and has lupus. Warren's wife has Turner's syndrome and 4 adopted children; I know they're busy scurrying around getting ready!
love, deexxoo

Hurricane warnings issued for most of east coast
With hurricane warnings posted for most of the Florida East Coast, an enormous and dangerous Hurricane Frances, packing 145 mph winds, now threatens to batter most of South Florida, as landfall is projected near Fort Pierce in the wee hours of Saturday morning.
VIDEO: NBC6 meteorologist Roland Steadham's 12:45 pm interview with the National Hurricane Center's Ed Rappaport (RealVideo)Two part emergency press conference by Miami-Dade County mayor:We live in the evacuation zone of Dade County. East side of U.S. 1 in SouthWest Dade. But we're staying put. Got good shutters, new roof, and no big trees.Lorrie is down in the Keys helping Manny get his trawler out of the water at the Marathon Marina.. then they'll return up here, possibly staying with us in our house. Bruce left early this morning to get gas for his truck, and then to help friends and family to board up. Jenny, who comes over on Thursdays to help me with housework, had to take her husband's big van at 2:00 A.M. to go get gas! First time she ever drove it! Her husband was exhausted from working at the hardware store selling hurricane supplies with hardly a breakand fell sound asleep- so she had to do it!I can hardly believe what I'm hearing and seeing on the above videos.. it's like a re-run of Hurricane Andrew. Bridges will be shut down at 3:00 A.M. Last night we had a very hard time finding gasoline; most stations had run out, and the others were lined up out in the street. We were blessed and found one near home with hi test gas and one short line available - just for us!As soon as Roy gets home at 2:00 PM today, he's going to go over to Tom's house to help him put up his shutters. Then we have to clear every loose thing out of our yard, throw it it into the shed, (like there's room in there) dismantle our infra-red sauna and put it in the house. I'm already exhausted!Dee xxooAlso posting to http://www.warrenwileyfamily.blogspot.com and http://www.globalrumblings.blogspot.com/~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
