PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico (AP) - Hurricane John became a dangerous, Category 4 storm Wednesday and forecasters predicted its center would come closer to land during its march up Mexico's Pacific coast, where its outer bands already were lashing tourist resorts with heavy winds and rain.
The hurricane had maximum sustained winds of 135 mph, and stronger gusts capable of ripping roofs off buildings and causing storm surges of up to 18 feet above normal.
John was not expected to affect the United States, but a hurricane warning covered a more than 300-mile stretch of the Mexican coastline from Lazaro Cardenas to Cabo Corrientes, the southwestern tip of the bay that holds Puerto Vallarta.
The area south of Lazaro Cardenas to Acapulco was under a tropical storm warning, including the resort of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. Lazaro Cardenas already was being hit with tropical storm-force winds.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami said John's hurricane-force winds were likely to begin raking beaches south of Puerto Vallarta late Wednesday, then come close to hitting land early Thursday. The storm would then nick Los Cabos at the tip of the Baja California Peninsula on Friday before heading out to sea.
The Mexican army and emergency services were on alert along the coast, and public schools were canceled in Acapulco and surrounding communities.
In the resort cities of Ixtapa and Zijuatanejo, authorities closed the port to small ocean craft while city officials set up temporary shelters in case the storm were to worsen in the area. Some students decided to leave school early before any potential flooding.
Light rain fell in Ixtapa, about three hours up the coast from Acapulco. At the five-star Emporio Hotel, receptionist David Gonzalez said the hotel had received only minor warnings of rising tides, and said none of the hotel's 92 guests had indicated an early departure.
Pedro Ochoa, reception clerk at the four-star Posada Real Ixtapa Hotel, said neither staff nor guests were making any special preparations for the storm because "we were advised that it was headed elsewhere."
"It's barely raining and there aren't even any winds to speak of," Ochoa said.
Authorities warned residents of low-lying areas to be on alert and urged deep-sea fishing expeditions to return to port in Acapulco. But the airport was still open, and there were few signs of preparation for the hurricane.
Forecasters warned the hurricane could dump up to 8 inches of rain along some of Mexico's southern coast, causing landslides or flooding. Dozens of communities were on alert, but no major problems had been reported.
The center of the hurricane was about 70 miles south of Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico's deepest port, and was moving to the northwest near 14 mph. But so far, the most damaging winds have remained offshore, and only tropical storm-force winds have hit the coast.
Meanwhile, a second weather system, Tropical Storm Kristy, formed in the Pacific far off the Mexican coast early Wednesday, but was forecast to move farther out to sea with no threat to land, the hurricane center said. Kristy had maximum sustained winds of 58 mph and was moving northwest at about 6 mph.

German Perspective on Islamic Threat

Must Read Editorial
A German view on the Islamic Crusade

It's fascinating that this should come out of Europe.
Matthias Dapfner, Chief Executive of the huge German publisher, Axel Springer AG, has written a blistering attack in DIE WELT, Germany's largest daily paper, against the timid reaction of Europe in the face of the Islamic threat. This is a must read by all Americans. History will certify its correctness.

EUROPE - THY NAME IS COWARDICE

A few days ago Henry Broder wrote in Welt am Sonntag, "Europe - your family name is appeasement." It's a phrase you can't get out of your head because it's so terribly true.

Appeasement cost millions of Jews, and non-
Jews, their lives as England and France, allies at the time, negotiated and hesitated too long before they noticed that Hitler had to be fought, not bound to toothless agreements. Appeasement legitimized and stabilized Communism in the Soviet Union, then East Germany, then all the rest of Eastern Europe where for decades, inhuman, suppressive, murderous governments were glorified as the ideologically correct alternative to all other possibilities.

Appeasement crippled Europe when genocide ran
rampant in Kosovo, and even though we had absolute proof of ongoing mass-murder, we Europeans debated and debated and debated, and were still debating when finally the Americans had to come from halfway around the world, into Europe yet again, and do our work for us.
Rather than protecting democracy in the Middle
East, European appeasement, camouflaged behind the fuzzy word "equidistance" now countenances suicide bombings in Israel by fundamentalist Palestinians.

Appeasement generates a mentality that allows
Europe to ignore nearly 3 00,000 victims of Saddam's torture and murder machinery and, motivated by the self-righteousness of the peace-movement, has the gall to issue bad grades to George Bush... Even as it is uncovered that the loudest critics of the American action in Iraq made illicit billions, no, TENS of billions, in the corrupt U.N. Oil-for-Food program.

And now we are faced with a particularly
grotesque form of appeasement. How is Germany reacting to the escalating violence by Islamic fundamentalists in Holland and elsewhere? By suggesting that we really should have a "Muslim Holiday" in Germany?

I wish I were joking, but I am not. A substantial
fraction of our (German) Government, and if the polls are to be believed, the German people, actually believe that creating an Official State "Muslim Holiday" will somehow spare us from the wrath of the fanatical Islamists. One cannot help but recall Britain's Neville Chamberlain waving the laughable treaty signed by Adolph Hitler, and declaring European "Peace in our time".

What else has to happen before the European
public and its political leadership get it? There is a sort of crusade underway, an especially perfidious crusade consisting of systematic attacks by fanatic Muslims, focused on civilians, directed against our free, open Western societies, and intent upon Western Civilization's utter destruction.

It is a conflict that will most likely last longer
than any of the great military conflicts of the last century - a conflict conducted by an enemy that cannot be tamed by "tolerance" and "accommodation" but is actually spurred on by such gestures, which have proven to be, and will always be taken by the Islamists for signs of weakness.

Only two recent American Presidents had the
courage needed for anti-appeasement: Reagan and Bush. His American critics may quibble over the details, but we Europeans know the truth. We saw it first hand: Ronald Reagan ended the Cold War, freeing half of the German people from nearly 50 years of terror and virtual slavery. And Bush, supported only by the Social Democrat Blair, acting on moral conviction, recognized the danger in the Islamic War against democracy. His place in history will have to be evaluated after a number of years have passed.

In the meantime, Europe sits back with
charismatic self-confidence in the multicultural corner, instead of defending liberal society's values and being an attractive center of power on the same playing field as the true great powers, America and China. On the contrary - we Europeans present ourselves, in contrast to those arrogant Americans", as the World Champions of "tolerance", which even (Germany's Interior Minister) Otto Schily justifiably criticizes.

Why? Because we're so moral? I fear it's more because we're so materialistic so devoid of a moral compass.

For his policies, Bush risks the fall of the dollar,
huge amounts of additional national debt, and a massive and persistent burden on the American economy - because unlike almost all of Europe, Bush realizes what is at stake - literally everything.

While we criticize the "capitalistic robber barons"
of America because they seem too sure of their priorities, we timidly defend our Social Welfare systems. Stay out of it! It could get expensive! We'd rather discuss reducing our 35-hour workweek or our dental coverage, or our 4 weeks of paid vacation... Or listen to TV pastors preach about the need to "reach out to terrorists. To understand and forgive".
These days, Europe reminds me of an old woman
who, with shaking hands, frantically hides her last pieces of jewelry when she notices a robber breaking into a neighbor's house.

Appeasement? Europe, thy name is Cowardice. God Bless America.

Ernesto Stays on Track for Florida Coast

MIAMI (AP) - Florida residents rushed to fill their prescriptions and stood in long lines for gasoline, food and other supplies Monday as officials warned people not to wait for Tropical Storm Ernesto to become a hurricane again before taking precautions.
Forecasters said Ernesto could grow back into a hurricane in the warm waters off Cuba and come ashore in South Florida as early as Tuesday night, exactly one year after Hurricane Katrina pummeled the Gulf Coast.
It would be the first hurricane to hit the United States this year.
Memories of Katrina and the seven hurricanes that have struck Florida since 2004 were fresh in the minds of many.
"Make sure you have the supplies for the 72 hours after the storm," Gov. Jeb Bush warned people in Tallahassee, a day after declaring a state of emergency for all Florida. "A hurricane's a hurricane, and it has a devastation we've already seen. All you have to do is rewind to last year and see."
Pedro Ballesteros, 40, carried two new 10-gallon gas tanks out of a Home Depot for his home generator.
"Every year we prepare a little more because we're learning from our past ordeals," he said. "I'm taking care of everything that's important - flashlights, batteries, gasoline."
The storm's path and intensity were far from clear. Forecasters said there was a 10 percent chance of hurricane-force winds striking South Florida and a 60 percent chance of tropical storm-force winds by Thursday.
About 400 miles of the state's densely populated Atlantic coast and the Keys - including the Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach and Cape Canaveral areas - were under a hurricane watch.
At 2 p.m. EDT, the fifth named storm of the hurricane season had winds of 40 mph, 1 mph above the minimum to be a tropical storm and down from a hurricane-strength 75 mph on Sunday, the National Hurricane Center said. It was centered over Cuba, about 450 miles southeast of Key West, and was moving northwest at 10 mph.
Over the weekend, Ernesto became the first hurricane of the Atlantic season and lashed the Dominican Republic and Haiti. One person was reported killed along Haiti's southern coast.
There were no immediate reports of any damage or injuries in Cuba. The government regularly undertakes mass evacuations before tropical storms and hurricanes. This time, Cubans moved cattle to higher ground, tourists were evacuated from hotels, and baseball games were rescheduled for earlier in the day in Havana.
Forecaster Richard Knabb at the hurricane center in Miami urged people not to become complacent. "Just because the system is not a hurricane now, doesn't mean it can't be a hurricane later," he said.
In the Keys, visitors were ordered out, and authorities planned to evacuate sick and elderly people to Miami. Mobile home residents in the Keys were also urged to clear out. Miami-Dade County opened a shelter for people from the Keys.
Some Keys residents and business owners put plywood over windows or installed hurricane shutters as tourists struggled to get flights out.
As of midafternoon, no large-scale evacuations were ordered on the Florida mainland.
NASA dropped plans to launch the space shuttle on Tuesday and was prepared to roll Atlantis back to its giant hangar if necessary. Cruise ship companies diverted several liners to avoid the storm.
Many Florida residents rushed to stores to gather supplies and fill prescriptions. Motorists had to wait up to an hour and a half at several gas stations across South Florida.
Adrian Scarani, manager of a Marathon service station on a busy intersection in Miami-Dade County, ran out of regular gasoline. "It was crazy here this morning," he said.
Kathleen Campos shopped for food and water at a Winn-Dixie in Miami and was also worried about getting enough cash, which might be hard to find after a storm if the electricity is knocked out.
Counties along the coast offered sandbags and got ready to distribute ice and water. Broward and Miami-Dade counties canceled school on Tuesday so that students would not get caught in the storm on their way home.
James Krie, 44, a Key West resident and general contractor, seemed unconcerned about the brewing storm. He acknowledged that outsiders might not understand.
"I feel like they look at us and say, 'You dummies live down there,'" he said.

Yeah, who knows where Ernesto will go. Still a few days away. This is the latest computer models from that site SkyWarn. I spoke to Tom earlier and he and Ann cleaned up their yard and he was putting up shutters on the apartment side. I got an email from Greg Artman this morning and he is putting up shutters too, and putting those new flood barriers in place and more than like have to head up to Marathon with the Sheriffs dept as usual tomorrow. Where ever it goes, I just hope it misses Key West altogether.

KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) - Visitors were ordered to leave the Florida Keys on Sunday because of the possibility that Hurricane Ernesto could threaten the island chain, emergency officials said.
The Monroe County Emergency Management office told tourists with immediate plans to travel to the Keys to postpone their trips and ordered those already in the island chain to leave.
All travel trailers and recreational vehicles also were ordered off the islands immediately.
Ernesto, the first hurricane of the Atlantic season, was lashing Haiti on Sunday with sustained wind of 75 mph.
The storm was expected to move over Cuba, then bring rain and wind to southern Florida by early Tuesday, the National Hurricane Center said.
The hurricane centered urged residents of southern Florida, the Florida Keys and Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula to monitor the storm. It was projected to strengthen off western Florida on Wednesday but the location of any U.S. landfall was unclear.
Florida's emergency management center in Tallahassee was partially activated Sunday.
The low-lying Keys are connected to each other by just one highway, U.S. 1.

Temptation
It is tempting to think that you can have something for nothing. It is tempting to think that you can take shortcuts. It is tempting to think that you can avoid the negative consequences of your destructive behavior.

When we're tempted to do what we know we should not, it is a deception. We see the reward, obsess over it, and mentally build it up bigger than life, completely out of proportion to reality. At the same time we fail to see the significantly bigger downside.

Being positive does not mean ignoring the negative consequences of our actions. Living positively comes from avoiding the negative consequences by refraining from the destructive behavior which surely leads to them.

The next time you are tempted to act against your own good judgment, remember that it is a lie, a deception for which you will ultimately and unavoidably suffer. Be positive by clearly seeing the negative and staying away from it.

Ewwwwwww!......

Last week, a couple of my sisters and my brother-in-law, Captain Tony, came to visit us and we really, really enjoyed their company - except it was too short.  I got to make a real breakfast.. you know, like bacon and eggs and toast. Even if it was a healthy no cholesterol Eggstirs scramble, sugar-free blackberry jam, Carb Countdown milk beverage, Starbucks coffee (courtesy of Captain Tony), low carb multi-grain Arnold's bread, "I-can't-believe-it's-not-Butter" fat-free spray.  yum yum. It all tasted so real.  Well, I am so used to breakfast protein shakes with greens, fibers, and purple berry juices that I wouldn't remember the difference.

My sister noticed a lot of paper towels drying on the rack above the dryer, and inquired why were 'those used paper towels' there?  I told her it was for my husband's coffee enemas, (aka, Gershwon therapy he's a licensed colonic therapist) otherwise we'd pay a fortune in new paper towels..   She said 'Ewwwwww!!'  and there were a lot of giggles in the group.

Then she wanted to know what those white things were in my Fuller Brush Mop shoes (I wear them around the house - they're comfy and clean the floors, as we take off our outside shoes at the front door)  I told her they were panty liners (size large) ... She said, "Ewwwwww!!!!!!"  (Hey, these are NOT used! ) Also I told her the sticky side is very good for picking up lint and other stuff -- after you use them (in the mops, of course).  And Captain Tony also noted they would be good for removing lint off of gentlemen's dark suits.  Bless him.  He got a lot of giggles. We love his sense of humour.

Speaking of mops.. I remember when we first moved to Miami in 1956 we lived in an apartment behind an elderly lady's house, an immigrant from Germany.  "Chermany" as she pronounced.  Mrs. Borschell once proudly showed my mother how she had come up with a wonderful way of cleaning her refrigerator with her mop.  Mom said, "Ewwwwww!"  Not to her face, but when she told us kids about it.    Once Mrs. Borschell brought over some potato pancakes she had made for us... but we couldn't eat them because, Ewwwwwww... we had spied her (We kids were always spying on her) through the window making them and the sweat was dripping off her brow... right into those 'tater pancakes.  No air conditioning in Miami in those days.

Now that I'll be around Mrs. Borchell's age in about 30 or so years, and when my back is hurting, I think I'll get myself a really nice clean fluffy mop devoted strictly to refrigerator cleaning.  When my mom comes over to visit, I'll show her and await her 'Ewwwwwww'....

Please write dear Karonga again and let him know that I am on a Meditarranean cruise and won't be back for a couple of days.

Then I am going to California to celebrate a grand-daughter's engagement... then a week later, I will be traveling to Canada to accept an award from the Queen's representative for charity toward Africans in need... then I am going to be bringing a lot of little chillen back with me to go to Disney World - all expenses paid... then when I return home I will be doing a television interview with Oprah Winfrey about how it is necessary to donate as much money as possible to alleviate world hunger - but it starts with individuals who have lost family members in Africa -- like the Nigerians, they are the most deserving.

Then Oprah and I will return to South Africa to interview more poor chirrun to attend a posh private school.. all expenses paid... then Oprah will go on to New York, and I will proceed to Miami Beach to my sumptuous apartment for a much needed rest for a few days.. then Mel Gibson and I will meet in Hollywood to discuss our next movie, "The Passionate Resurrection of Black Angus" and then George Soros and I will go with Michael Moore up to Washington to meet with Mr. Bush for them to apologise to him for ever doubting him (I managed to convince them to do this, as we need unanamity) and then Hillary Clinton and I will go to Canada to knock some sense into Bill's haid for messing around with Belinda.. then I will be meeting with my favorite I.R.S. agent back down at my sumptuous Miami Beach apartment to personally accept a suddenly found refund of $4,279,149.98.

(The beautiful Agent and family will stay in my 9 bedroom vacation apartment with my family, all expenses paid, and we will celebrate with some very expensive South African wine for a few days and I intend to lavish the agent and family with lots of goodies)  Bill Gates and Melissa will be coming over for dinner and toasting each other's good fortunes - With Ageless Essentials, of course.

In the meantime, Dean, will you please remind Karonga that you won "der Nazionale Lotteria" in Germany last month and you'd be able to help Karonga sooner than I can being as you aren't nearly as busy?  And yes, I will be glad to split the proceeds with you from this greedy little scam 50/50.  After Karonga attempts to take his 253% of course.

Deadly, Major Quake Predicted to Strike New Zealand

Deadly, Major Quake Predicted to Strike New Zealand

see Stan's
Dream-Visions of 1997

August 24, 2006
By Jarrod Booker
New Zealand Herald

An overdue alpine fault earthquake will strike "out of the blue" and cause widespread death, shut down power generators, create tsunami within New Zealand and overwhelm emergency services, experts warn.

Graphic: Los Angeles skyline

The major quake will cause intense shaking and rupturing along hundreds of kilometres of the fault line bisecting the South Island, geology experts Tim Davies and Mauri McSaveney predict.

"The most likely time [for the quake] is now. The next most likely time for it to happen is tomorrow," Associate Professor Davies, of Canterbury University, told the Natural Hazards Management Conference in Christchurch.

"The longer the delay, the bigger it will be. It will occur with no recognisable warning. We can't manage it - we have to adapt to it."

The pair have outlined a nightmarish scenario in the aftermath of the quake and are urging people to be prepared as best they can. Overseas help would be needed when the quake struck.

"There will be death and injuries, especially in the [Southern] Alps and West Coast. Rescue services and medical services will be overwhelmed, and remain so for weeks in places."

"Shaking damage and land instability will disrupt surface transport for months, tourists will be trapped, and distribution of vital supplies (eg, food, fuel) will be limited. Hydro stations will shut down immediately and may be slow to restart, power reticulation will be damaged. Only satellite phones will remain in use."

"No services will be as normal."

The intense shaking would cause landslides of millions of cubic metres, damming rivers and later causing floods. Aftershocks could continue for months.

"Landslides into lakes and fiords may cause tsunami, as may the collapse of river deltas in lakes or the sea. Queenstown, Milford and Wanaka are likely sites of tsunami damage."

The pair say the Alpine fault quake is a certainty. It is only a matter of when.

"The interval since the last event (in 1717) is longer than any interval between known earlier events."

Plans needed to be developed now for the worst-case scenarios, with relocation of "obviously perilous" facilities, buildings and infrastructure, with spare equipment and supplies stored in safe locations.

Tour bus operators were urged to stock up on food and supplies for their customers who could likely be trapped for days in isolated locations.

Experts at the conference have also warned of the risk of a deadly ocean tsunami striking New Zealand.

The country had experienced tsunamis in the past, but modern shoreline development has made it much more vulnerable, according to GNS expert Kelvin Berryman.

If warnings and evacuations were not carried out in time, an estimated 5000 people would be killed by waves up to 8m high on the east coasts of New Zealand.

Bill and Belinda?s Excellent Adventure

But Clinton?s new, er, friendship isn?t helping his wife?s presidential aims, writes Eric Reguly

As potential girlfriends go, Belinda Stronach would rank as a true catch. She is single, youngish (she just turned 40), attractive, wealthy, impeccably well-connected and politically ambitious - glamorous in every respect. Two years ago, Time magazine listed her as one of the 100 most powerful people on the planet. The tabloids cut to the chase: they called her the "blonde bombshell" or "Bubba's blonde."

Which way?
Where you are is not nearly as important as the direction you're moving. No matter how far down you are, you can quickly turn around and head back up. You cannot instantly get to the top, but you can instantly be on your way.

Which way are you headed right now? Are you moving steadily toward an important goal? What will you do today to keep yourself moving that way?

Are the things you're doing moving you toward where you want to be? If not, why in the world are you doing them? Do you really believe you can get somewhere by walking farther and farther away from it every day?

There's something you can do today to keep yourself, or to get yourself moving toward exactly where you want to be. Do it! Every day you spend drifting away from your goals is a waste not only of that day, but also of the additional day it takes you to regain lost ground.

Know where you want to go. Get on track and stay on track. Keep yourself always moving forward.

It's Islam....

Excerpt:

"Listen up, people, they mean it." ~

Sunday, August 13, 2006

It's Islam, stupid

In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, American comedians didn't quite dare wade into the topic of the new reality.  For several weeks following the attack, the stand-up acts were strangely devoid of anything related to homeland security or terrorism.  That is, until Jay Leno stepped up and decided that enough was enough.
In his opening monologue one evening he delivered what has since become a classic bit:
"I'm not saying they're profiling at the airports these days.  But if your first name is 'Mohammed' and your last name isn't 'Ali'... leave a little extra time."
He nailed it.
Unfortunately, for some reason the people who are paid to understand such things still don't 'get' the prescient truth behind Leno's timely joke.
With the exception of North Korea, every single trouble spot on the planet can be directly tied to the doctrine of Islam.  Please take note that I didn't use the words 'radical' or 'militant' to modify the word Islam.  Islam, as preached and practiced from it's primary source (the Koran), is quite simply incompatible with other cultures and religions.  Since its inception in the 7th century, Islam has demanded that its followers submit themselves completely to the will of Allah... and that they in turn bend the rest of the world completely to the pitiless domination of Islam.
The best any non-Muslim can expect according to the Pact of Umar is a barely-tolerated status known as 'Dhimmi'... which is basically a subservient second class status in Muslim society.  In short, Islam does not play nicely with others.  It's all or nothing.
Since Islam was invented (yes, you read that correctly) it has been the cause of countless wars, conquests and overt attempts to dominate the known world.  Throughout its history, Islamic leaders have made absolutely no secret of their intentions to carry out Allah's global ambitions.  And in every generation since, the non-Muslims of the world have said to themselves (as we are again saying to ourselves today), that they don't really mean it... that this is just the way those people talk and it is a cultural thing for which we need to make allowances.
I honestly don't understand this willful blindness.

Listen up people... they mean it!  Really!!! When people in charge of nearly limitless resources and vast armies stand up and state quite openly that they intend to wipe a country off the map, they mean it!  When these leaders state their intention to return to the lines of demarcation (and beyond) where previous Muslim invasions/conquests faltered in Europe... they mean it.
When they tell us in the most unambiguous, straightforward language that they won't stop until they have conquered the world... THEY REALLY MEAN IT!
Every advance in global communication and travel that should have made the world a better, smaller, safer place to live has been exploited by Islam as a weapon against us.  Because of the tenets of Islam, every man woman and child must now wait in endless lines to enter public buildings and travel on buses, trains and airplanes.  And each time we think we have figured out a way to return to some semblance of normalcy in our daily lives, we discover (often too late) that Muslims have figured out a new way to target us and kill us in large numbers.
Over the past few days British and U.S. security officials have been interviewed about the new security measures in place after the [apparently] foiled attempt to smuggle liquid explosives onto a bunch of trans-Atlantic flights.    Their solutions make absolutely no sense!  They have little old ladies from Peoria throwing away their Florida Water.  They have teenagers dumping shampoo, hair gel and conditioners from their purses and backpacks.  They have people tossing out their contact lens solution!!!
What they aren't doing is mining the database which contains the name and salient details of every Muslim man woman and child in the free world (a database I assure you exists), and demanding that every one of these potential jihadists be subjected to the same waiting period to buy a plane ticket as most U.S. citizens have to endure before purchasing a handgun.
There it is.  Call me a racist.  Call me a bigot.  Call me whatever you want.
Obviously not every Muslim in the world is actually a terrorist or dreams gleefully of subjugating the world under the heel of Islam.  But the ones who don't represent a clear and present threat to us are the exception rather than the rule.  To pretend otherwise and formulate our approach to dealing with our enemies based on our experience with this tiny minority of benign Muslims is insanity.
The Muslim countries and individuals that have proven themselves (thus far, anyway) capable of peaceful coexistence with non-Muslim cultures are those who have deliberately moved towards secularization of their religion and society.  They have basically created an 'Islam Lite' that preserves many of the cultural touchstones if Islam without demanding the subservience and militancy of the Full Monty Wahhabi.  What does it say about a religion that in order for it to coexist peacefully with other cultures and faiths it must be de-clawed of its more dangerous statutes?
Just because we can point to Jordan or Egypt and say, "See... it's possible to be both Muslim and a peaceful neighbor", is no disproof of what I've said here.   Both of these countries have had mixed results creating secular societies, and as a result are facing destabilizing internal insurgencies from their religious citizens.
Likewise, we can point to many wonderful Muslim individuals around the world who are neither personally dangerous nor supporters of global Jihad.  But these people are marginal players in their own societies and would certainly not put their lives at risk telling the Mullahs to just 'give peace a chance'.  I mean, did you ever notice that these moderate Muslims are always calling on the non-Muslim world (especially Israel and the U.S.) to be the ones to back down in the face of threats and violence... y'know, as a humanitarian gesture?  Yet all the while Islam remains on the march with no hint of concession or regret in sight.
The sudden massive immigration of Muslims into western Europe over the past 30 years is no accident or coincidence.  This is a conquest plain and simple, although without the swords and horses most refuse to recognize it as such.  Europe has historically been able to tolerate immigration because their own cultures have been strong enough to absorb and influence the new arrivals.
Of course, we Jews know from painful experience that refusal to be absorbed can lead to unwanted negative attention from European hosts.  Perhaps the Europeans learned the lesson too well with us (the Jews) and are therefore doubly vulnerable to the Muslim hordes.
But make no mistake... these aren't a bunch of wandering Huguenots or Jews who refuse to be absorbed into European society.  Islam demands the home team advantage even when on the road... and is acting as an aggressive, belligerent cancer that has metastasized on the vital organs of European society.
Think about this for a moment:  A practitioner of a non-Muslim religion would be barred from most outward practices of his or her faith in any Muslim country. But let anyone or anything trod on the toes of Islamic practices anywhere in the free world and there will be riots and murder in the streets.
Let a Muslim be arrested for breaking the law... rioting, destruction and murder ensue.
Let a cartoon be drawn that insults any aspect of Islam... rioting, destruction and murder ensue.
Let anyone suggest that women be photographed for national identity cards in such a way that they can actually be identified (i.e. without a veil or chador)...rioting, destruction and murder ensue.
Throughout the free world there are now cultural no-go zones where the police, politicians and even military dare not tread for fear of inciting Muslim violence.
A Buddha can't be tolerated in Afghanistan.  A crucifix is an affront in Iran.  Entire Jewish communities in every Muslim country have been uprooted and expelled (and all their holdings and property seized by the mobs).  Yet I challenge you to name a city in Western Europe where the skyline isn't marred by turgid minarets and where the residents aren't subjected to the amplified din of the muezzin from pre-dawn til late at night.
The west willfully turns a blind eye to the abuse of women and children and tacitly condones honor killings in our midst.  Our laws are well written and equipped to deal with these issues... yet those sworn to uphold and defend the laws are fearful of lighting the powder keg called 'Muslim Sensibilities'.
And yet each time Muslims up the stakes in their declared war on the rest of the world, we pretend they don't really mean it.  We patronize them and infantalize them... and we pooh-pooh their rantings and crimes as we would those of an ill-behaved child.  At a certain point one has to wonder if world leaders are just stupid or if they are actually complicit in the attacks on their own societies!
Anyone who gets on TV and says that Islam is a religion of peace is either an ignoramus or a liar.
Anyone who stands up after a kidnapping and tells the world not to worry about the welfare of the hostages because Islam requires that prisoners be treated humanely, is pulling a Jedi mind trick in an attempt to make us forget the countless hostages that have been tortured, shot, knifed or beheaded to satisfy the ongoing blood-lust of a 7th Century L.Ron Hubbard*.
Wake up folks!  The people who are funding and carrying out these attacks are Muslims.  It isn't that they just happen to be Muslims.  If you take the time to read the Koran (instead of blindly taking the world of Muslim murderers and apologists) it is full of very straight-forward directives to dominate, subjugate, and if necessary, kill the infidel while taking over the world.
Each time a Muslim politician gets up after an attack and claims that the terrorists do not act in the name of Muslims and that such attacks are damaging the standing if Islam around the world, you can bet they are speaking in English... and that the version delivered to their co-religionists will be an Arabic or Farsi riff on Queen's hit 'We are the Champions'!
The answer isn't to negotiate with Islam.  The streets are no longer safe.  Travel is no longer safe.  Commerce is no longer safe.  Even speaking or writing what we think is risking a death sentence!  We can't possibly concede anything more to Islam because, quite literally, we have nothing left to give.  Any concessions from here on in will simply amount to handing them our little remaining autonomy and freedom piece-by-piece.
The world is making a horrible mistake by imposing a cease-fire on Israel in its war on Hezbollah.  This shameful document grants a terrorist organization legal status and standing in the international arena and fails to punish the states who sponsor it (Syria and Iran)... or hold accountable the country (Lebanon) that allows it to dominate its political life and government.
This cease fire denies Israel (and every other civilized country) the right to defend internationally recognized borders, and in fact calls into question the very concept of internationally recognized borders!!!  Quite simply, this cease fire resolution codifies in black and white that aggression is the new diplomacy and everything is ultimately negotiable.
New U.N. Resolutions (such as the one under which the cease fire is to be implemented) are a waste of time since they only underscore the fact that previous resolutions can easily be set aside and/or ignored with impunity.  Kofi Annan and his merry bunch of enablers have granted the Muslims yet another 'Do Over' in their race towards global domination without the troublesome formality of forcing them back to the starting line.
The moment this cease fire goes into effect the west will have signed its own death warrant.  We will have declared to the entire Muslim world that there is always a reward for unprovoked aggression.  From here on in, at every turn the world will be faced with emboldened Muslim organizations and regimes who will take up arms in anticipation of the next western capitulation.  Any of these so-called moderate Muslim voices we hear so much about will (if they're smart) run for cover.  We've sold them out and made their future existence every bit as tenuous as our own.
Yes folks, we are witnessing the beginning of the end in the global war of cultures... and true to form, we still refuse to even name the enemy.
It's Islam, stupid!

Dear Larry,

My son just relayed the following info to me regarding the Tungurahua Volcano in Ecuador.

Beginning on the Thursday the 17th there was an increase in volcanic activity followed by a massive explosion of molten rocks and debris.  The situation as I understand is critical, towns have been blocked off by debris and at the last update 5 people are reported as having died with 50 still missing and 13 injured.  Over 3,500 people have been evacuated so far but there is much more to do regarding people and livestock.

This eruption has been reported as being much more severe than the last eruption that these folks endured and it sounds as if they were taken off guard by the severity.

If any new info comes my way I will forward it.

Tsunamis in Switzerland?

The Sunday Times August 13, 2006

Swiss alarmed by threat of lake tsunamis

SWITZERLAND is drawing up emergency plans to cope with tsunamis after scientists warned that rocks from crumbling mountains could tumble into the country?s lakes and cause devastating tidal waves.
The risk of a giant wave like the one that devastated southeast Asia at the end of 2004 may seem unlikely in a landlocked country, most of which is hundreds of feet above sea level, but experts insist it could happen and have drawn up a map highlighting the areas that are under the greatest threat.
Rising temperatures are causing the permafrost that binds the high peaks of the Alps to melt, making the mountains increasingly unstable. Some of the best known tourist resorts, including St Moritz, Saas Fee and Zermatt, have been warned they are vulnerable.
Last month half a million cubic metres of rock tumbled from the Eiger shrouding the nearby resort of Grindelwald in dust. Nobody was hurt, but geologists predict it could happen again. If rock plunged into a lake the ripples could produce a wave powerful enough to claim hundreds of lives, they said.
The Swiss environment ministry admits its emergency plan is still in the early stages. Its first priority is to identify where permafrost is present and where mudslides and rockfalls are likely as it melts under the effect of global warming.
Giant waves generated by such a rockfall landing in a lake swollen with melted snow would put towns and villages nearby in peril. Random rockfalls and mudslides already claim about three lives a year.
The Federal Office for the Environment has acknowledged the threat. ?Above 2,400 metres the ground is permafrost, permanently frozen. Due to global warming there is a risk of this ?permafrost line? rising over the next few decades,? said officials.
?This could trigger rockfalls, landslides and mudflows in the mountains. In certain areas tourist facilities or agricultural buildings could be struck directly.?
Roberto Loat, from the environment office?s hazard prevention division, helped draw up the permafrost map and warned there were many signs pointing towards impending disaster. ?We need to find out which regions are at risk. We know mini-tsunamis are possible, we just haven?t seen one yet,? he said.
?But either way locals and tourists who come to these mountains need to know about the dangers, to be aware of the risks. The risk is greater after a long hot summer like we just had, or after heavy rainfalls.?
Charly Wuilloud, head of the environment ministry?s natural hazards department in the canton of Valais, the most endangered area, said the region was making plans to deal with giant rockfalls. ?We already know some of the areas which are at a high risk, for example Ritigraben near St Niklaus, as well as Zinal and Martigny, where just last week a mudflow almost derailed a train. There are about 30 to 35 danger areas that we currently watch.?
But Roland Imboden, head of tourism in Zermatt, is more worried about a bad press than rockslides. ?The Swiss media have been over-reacting to the threat to us since seeing the map,? he said.
?It?s true Zermatt looks in a bad position, but the environment ministry told me there is nothing likely to fall on us. Personally, I?m more worried what the bad publicity will do to the tourist season than about a mountain falling on me.?

Burning Attraction ? - Mayon Volcano

Tourism to the volcano a good idea?

Burning attraction

Ominous posters around this city show the nearby Mayon volcano, erupting forcefully, shooting fiery sparks into the sky with blood-red lava dripping from its mouth. But the words on the poster are cheerful rather than frightening: "Visit Legazpi: Mayon Eruption 2006." The posters are part of an impromptu campaign to find some benefit from a looming disaster that has already forced the evacuation of nearly 40,000 people from their homes on the rumbling volcano?s slopes into overcrowded evacuation centres.
Burning attractonWhile initial estimates of tourist revenues are not available, officials say the volcano, which began oozing lava on July 15 and is on high alert for a full eruption, has helped bring in more local and foreign tourists to this city of about 400,000 people on the poverty-stricken Bicol peninsula. The posters are the brainchild of Legaspi City councillor Cerilo Chan who realised over a week ago that the tourism potential of the volcanic eruption was not being fully exploited.
He printed up the posters and had them placed in different parts of the city and also personally stuck copies at airports, hotels and at the tourism districts in Manila where potential visitors might see them. "I just noticed many foreigners were arriving," but that there were not enough people attending to them, he said. Since then, Chan has been getting many inquiries. He has been successful in attracting some 120 employees of the central bank to vacation here in late July where they personally got to see Mayon put on a fireworks show at night - from a safe distance.
The 8,070-foot (2,460-metre) high volcano has long been a tourist attraction, thanks to its near-perfect cone, its symmetrical slopes and its history of being the most active volcano in the country. But it has been overshadowed by other tourist attractions in recent years such as diving with whale sharks in the nearby coastal town of Donsol. Many of the tourists who pass through Legaspi City just use it as a jumping off point to somewhere else but the eruption of the volcano has revived interest in Mayon.
While government volcanologists warn people not to enter a six to eight kilometre (four to five-mile) danger zone around the crater, the city of Legaspi, located some 15 kilometres away, is well out of danger. Sightseers can watch the volcanic unrest while sipping drinks in the safety of their hotel rooftops. Bernadette Peralta, president of the Legaspi City Tourism Council, a private association, says there is some reluctance to exploit a disaster that is hurting their neighbours.
"We have to be prudent. An eruption would also mean destruction," she says, remarking that some people had criticised the effort to use the eruption to attract tourists. Ironically, the dangerous image of a volcanic eruption has also scared some tourists away.  "There is a perception of fear from other regions," of the Philippines, says Peralta, saying there had been some hotel cancellations.
Despite this, Maria Ravanilla, local director of the national Tourism Department, says there has already been a marked rise in tourist arrivals since the volcano roared into life. A survey of the five top hotels in Legaspi found they had a 62 per cent occupancy rate since mid-July, a time of the year when such hotels usually have a 20 per cent occupancy rate, Ravanilla said.
The survey also found that there were 1,683 foreign tourists who checked in from July 18 to August 7, the off-peak season, compared with 2,638 foreign tourists in the entire first half of the year. Clouds obscure the mountain top on some days, but foreign tourists are generally pleased they made the diversion. "At first, I was afraid to come because when you see the volcano on the TV, you get the wrong idea," says German Michael Lichtinger, sipping a beer at an open-air restaurant on a government-built viewing station. "I like it well enough but I wish it wasn?t this cloudy."

Major ash explosion feared
Mayon volcano in the Philippines could soon unleash a huge cloud of deadly gases and ash, experts warned yesterday, as 40,000 people prepared for a second week in crowded evacuation centres. Four powerful ash explosions rocked the spectacular 8,070-foot (2,460-metre) peak on Saturday, covering nearby communities to the northwest with a light layer of dust, government vulcanologists said.
Mayon, where activity has picked up over the past week, is now belching a more lethal "pyroclastic flow" of hot volcanic gas and dust, rather than slow-moving lava, said Ed Laguerta, head of the volcano monitoring observatory. Unlike the trails of lava that have been slowly flowing down the volcano?s slopes for weeks, so-called "pyroclastic flows" can cover a wide area very swiftly, moving at speeds of about 60 kilometres (35 miles) per hour.
"We want to give the volcano a wide berth," said Ernesto Corpuz, head of the volcano monitoring division of the Philippine Institute of Vulcanology and Seismology. The government has evacuated some 40,000 residents living in a six-to-eight-kilometre danger zone around the volcano, herding them into 24 overcrowded evacuation centres, most of them schools. Many residents, however, still enter the danger zone to work on their farms, guard their belongings and attend to other personal matters.
The full extent of the danger posed by the volcano is not readily apparent as its crater has largely been obscured by thick clouds for days, preventing the public from seeing the ash explosions. Philippine President Gloria Arroyo, who visited Mayon on Saturday, has promised more aid for the villagers including the delivery of prefabricated homes and tents, in a bid to ease overcrowding at the evacuation centres.
Despite the dangers of Mayon, busloads of evacuees could been seen leaving the centre in Legaspi City yesterday to visit their homes in Bonga village, inside the danger zone, where people said they could hear a distant rumbling.

Dee, please forward the Scam email to fraud@irs.gov or some other govt agency.  Unlike you, many other people are being taken in by these Nigerian, or whatever scams.  The govt has the means to track these people down.  Do you know that the young woman who killed her preacher husband in Tennessee, leaving her 3 little children dead, fell for one of these scams?  When she deposited the conterfiet cashiers check and sent the overpaymernt' or other fee 'back', her bank account was debited about $17K for the fake chck.  This is what lead to a huge fight with her hubby & why she shot him!  I see it here at the bank about people being taken in and it costs them big bucks! Also, if they don't have the $$ to pay back the bank, the bank is out the $$.

Nigerian Scams - Forward them to fraud@irs.gov !

You can keep them writing to you by writing them and pretending to fall for them.. it's a lot of fun, too!  You'll see how Karonga here didn't catch on to the 'tongue-in-cheek' double entendre and mispelling banter I've been having with him.  hee hee.   Of course it's a great idea to do as Ann mentions here, because these scam emails from Nigeria, Zimbawe, etc. have caused a lot of very real harm, even death!

ASSISTANCE FROM YOU
Dear One,

My name is Master Karonga Zungu, the son of Mr.Ellies Karonga of blessed memory from Zimbabwe, During the current crises against the farmers in Zimbabwe from the supports of President Robert Mugabe to claim all citizens both black/white farmers farms, who where not his party members and his followers, he ordered all white/black farmers who were not in his party to surrender all their farms to his party members and his followers.
My father was one of the most successful multy farmers in our country and because he did not support Mugabe`s ideas, Mugabes supporters invaded his farm and burnt everything in the farm, killing him and made away with a lot of farming items in my fathers farm.

Re: URGENT Karonga's request - Dean, awaiting your response.

Dear Karonga,

Thank you for your prayers.  I do believe in prayers and light hearted banter between friends and am so ingratiated to have an opportunity to have a prayerful new friend and one who will help us all become very wealthy and, better, wise.

I am forwarding your request to Mr. Wu Zu Fu Zoto as he is the one who will assist us. (Please do not reveal his cover name of Dean M. as we must remain incognito) It will be entirely up to him to reveal his social security number, mother's maiden name, Paypal password, bank accounts numbers, home and business addresses, private telephone numbers and other confidential information. He has many.  Please don't entertain other thoughts toward publicity. You must understand that he must remain very discrete and discertaining as he has recently become very rich due to winning the Nazionale Lotteria of Germany of several million euros.  He was already wealthy, and needs to dispose of some of these riches to worthy causes for tax dodgers.  We have agreed to split the proceeds from your proposal 30/40 with 40 percent going to him and 30 to me. His 40 percent he will most likely donate to overprivatized children who need less.  He will be able to fly over with some funds derived from that vast downfall. Would you prefer dollars or euros?  Of course, matters being as they are at present, the funds cannot be in liquid form due to national security.  He has ways of surrounding that problem, though. Most likely by instinct - electro-magnetic transfers.

He has been looking for suspicious investment opportunities such as yours in order to fritter away the huge amount of monies he recently received. Your proposal looks very auspicious and one to be worthy of consent.  He believes his luck will  continue with your endeavor, and is anxious to send you some of the proceeds, a large sum to cover the expenses involved in collecting an even larger sum of money.

I am remaining in serious and sincere constraint, and continuing in prayer also for your family.

35,000 Villagers are Evacuated - Mt. Mayon - see FIRE of Lava..

Photo in the News: Philippine Volcano Threatens Eruption

August 7, 2006?For weeks, beautiful flows of lava on the slopes of the Phillipines' Mayon volcano have enraptured onlookers. Here, villagers and sightseers watch on August 1 as the volcano undergoes a mild eruption.
But it's far past time to leave.

The volcano sent six plumes of ash high into the air today, prompting officials to intensify eruption warnings and step up evacuations near the mountain, located in southern Luzon about 200 miles (325 kilometers) southeast of Manila (map of Philippines).
Saying an eruption is imminent, the government raised the alert for the 8,000-foot (2,500-meter) volcano to level four?the second-highest level?from level three.
Officials also extended the "danger zone" on the mountain's south side to 5 miles (8 kilometers) from 4.3 miles (7 kilometers).
Last week, the government deployed troops to help evacuate the sightseers. Now 35,000 villagers are being moved out, Gov. Fernando Gonzalez of Albay province told the Associated Press, and 20,000 more will be evacuated if a major eruption occurs.
Lava has been flowing down Mayon since July 14, but activity has strengthened in recent days. Volcanologists have detected 21 low-frequency volcanic earthquakes since early Sunday morning, the AP reported.
Famous for its near-perfect cone shape, Mayon is the Philippines' most active volcano, according to NASA's Earth Observatory. The mountain last erupted in 1993, killing more than 70 people.

"Dead Zone" reappears off Oregon coast

Excerpt:
In 2002 when the dead zone first appeared, Dr. Lubchenco said, she and other researchers dismissed it as an interesting anomaly. ?But now, five years in a row, we are beginning to think there has been some sort of fundamental change in ocean conditions off the West Coast,? she said, possibly because of changes in the jet stream caused by global warming.

?Dead Zone? Reappears Off the Oregon Coast

The New York Times
The zone occupies a space roughly the size of Rhode Island.
For the fifth year in a row, unusual wind patterns off the coast of Oregon have produced a large ?dead zone,? an area so low in oxygen that fish and crabs suffocate.
This dead zone is unlike those in the Gulf of Mexico and elsewhere, which result from fertilizer, sewage or runoff from hog or poultry operations carried by rivers. The Oregon zone appears when the wind generates strong currents carrying nutrient-rich but oxygen-poor water from the deep sea to the surface near shore, a process called upwelling.
The nutrients encourage the growth of plankton, which eventually dies and falls to the ocean floor. Bacteria there consume the plankton, using up oxygen.
Jane Lubchenco, a marine biologist at Oregon State University, said the phenomenon did not appear to be linked to recurring El Niño or La Niña currents or to long-term cycles of ocean movements. That made Dr. Lubchenco wonder if climate change might be a factor, she said, adding, ?There is no other cause, as far as we can determine.?
The dead zone, which appears in late spring and lasts a matter of weeks, has quadrupled in size since it first appeared in 2002 and this year covers about 1,235 square miles, an area about as large as Rhode Island, Dr. Lubchenco said.
The zone dissipates when winds shift.
It is not clear what effect the dead zone may have on future fish or crab catches, Dr. Lubchenco said. So far, she said, the dead zone has not formed until the Dungeness crab season has been nearly over.
Hal Weeks, a marine ecologist who leads the Marine Habitat Project for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, said the formation of the low-oxygen, or hypoxic, areas had so far caused ?localized disruptions? in fishing but no overall decline in catches and no interference with recreational fishing.
Dr. Weeks said these areas might have occurred in the past and gone undetected. But he added that when he convened a meeting of scientists and fishermen about 18 months ago to discuss the issue, the fishermen said they did not recall problems occurring so regularly.
?Based on people?s memories,? Dr. Weeks said, ?they did not have a pattern or periodicity to it.?
He and Dr. Lubchenco said scientists would take a research vessel out to sea on Tuesday and lower a robot vehicle to photograph the sea bottom to check fish and crab mortality.
?You don?t normally haul up a pot and find any dead crabs in it,? Dr. Lubchenco said. ?And the crabbers that we have talked to have all reported dead crabs.?
Dr. Weeks said he hoped the research cruise would help explain what was going on. ?I am expected to give the best possible technical advice to my managers,? he said, ?and I am afraid right now I don?t have answers for them.?
In 2002 when the dead zone first appeared, Dr. Lubchenco said, she and other researchers dismissed it as an interesting anomaly. ?But now, five years in a row, we are beginning to think there has been some sort of fundamental change in ocean conditions off the West Coast,? she said, possibly because of changes in the jet stream caused by global warming.

Are you earthquake sensitive?

I think a lot of us are - we just don't correlate the 'symptoms' with the happenings.

By the way, I sure have been craving popcorn and dropping things lately!
('EMF" means electromagnetic frequency) Read on...

deexxoo

  Are You Earthquake Sensitive???

There have always been, and will always be, earthquakes. Scientists
tell us that you can't predict an earthquake or volcanic eruption, but
that's no longer true. Through the efforts of Charlotte King who
pioneered Biological Earthquake Prediction, and Chris Dodge of the US
Library of Congress, a volunteer research project was born - aptly
named "Project Migraine." The focus of this project was to prove,
beyond coincidence, that earthquakes and volcanic eruptions could be
forecast, prospective of the event, giving time, magnitude, location
and probability.

It was later discovered that there may be, in addition to Charlotte,
hundreds, and even thousands of other people around the world who may
be able to "feel and hear" earthquake and volcanic eruptions before
they actually take place.

If you walk into a room and bump into furniture or you go to pour some juice and miss the glass, or go to put sugar in your tea and end up with sugar on the table, you may be clumsy, or you may be a potential biological sensitive..

If you go to pick up your car keys or a book and drop it, and pick it up
again and again it slips through your fingers, these are all symptoms of
problems being caused by depth perception, which is affected by the EMF changes your body is responding to..

If you never get headaches and all the sudden you get one without any
particular stress or other trigger, and then just as suddenly it is gone,
watch the papers or listen to the news, and see where the earthquake strikes
in 12-72 hours.. usually over 5.0 unless it is local to where you are.

Do you all the sudden crave popcorn.. you don't know why.. you just want
it.. this is a definite precursor to earthquakes or volcanic eruptions...
the event will hit within 12-24 hours.

Order Charlotte's pamphlet that shows the relationship between body symptoms, earthquakes, and volcanic activity.

Climate Changes on other planets ~ from Larry Taylor

Excerpt from George Ure's Free Daily News:

``
A Burnaby (British Columbia) paper asks a really important question: "Are we to blame for climate change? There's a lot of energy kicking around the solar system, and changes on other planets mean humans may not be 100% guilty.  Although, we could all end up 100% dead when the climate change accelerates to the point where massive famines begin. For today, famines are in places like North Korea.  And parts of Africa.  And you won't find a lot of fat people in Asia.

By the way, getting little play - but very interesting - is that a new study out suggests that if an expectant mother is starved during pregnancy, the odds go up that the resulting child will suffer from schizophrenia.  My totally un-medical advice?  Don't starve yourself if pregnant because there may be health consequences for the child.

Now, let me see, I meandered from a tropical storm to famine in a flow of consciousness vein, Yeah, that caffeine is really settling in today.

Browser Feedback.
Lots of people running the IE 7.0 beta reported that page load problem I was having yesterday.  No one with Firefox reported troubles although I got a lot of "neener, neener, neeners" from the spyware resistant browser users...

Iraq's Civil War
When someone like me writes 2-years ago that Iraq is descending into civil war, no one pays attention.  But, here we are, two years later, and the outgoing British Ambassador to Iraq is now warning that civil war is not only the most likely outcome of the Iraq war, but that the country will likely break up along ethnic lines. Act surprised.

Islamic Demands

By the way, it will be interesting to note whether various Middle East media report widely on the findings of a human rights group that says the death toll at Qana was 28, not the reported 54 that Lebanese officials claimed. Wars are almost as much perception battles as bombs and bullets.

Somalia Unwinding

Commodities
Although it has been down a bit this morning in the futures markets, gold and oil prices have firmed up this week on escalating global tensions.

Ukraine HR Issue
The president of the Ukraine has one of those tough management decisions to make: Should he appoint his political enemy to a top spot in government or dissolve parliament?

Extreme Weather
"What's a Prapiroon?"  Until this morning, I would have no clue.  Now, I know it's a hurricane, headed for China, but I still have no clue.

Here in the US, more hot temps due today, and with it comes more headaches for the Midwest Independent System Operator shuffling power around to hungry utilities.

BTW, our power bill here at the ranch last month came in yesterday: $207.58 for two buildings (house and my office/shop/barn) with moderate AC use. Just so you can either weep or pat yourself on the back.

Good News
Although I  don't cover a lot of "good news," I'm really an optimistic sort of fellow and to prove it, here's something downright cheery:  New Zealand is looking at a record grape harvest, which means plenty of Kiwiland wines should be available next year.

Last night, Steve Quayle had an interesting show on the history of famine (which is expected to spread globally as we run out of energy, because we convert oil to food).  Throwing in my 2-cents worth, I'd note that it's the 150th anniversary of the Irish Famine.

Shortage Report
This from a reader:
"Add to your list of shortages...I've been trying to find a 1 (one) gallon gasoline container for months...none to be found in any of the various stores I've been in from Maine to New Hampshire.."
Could just be 1-gallon cans weren't selling - besides, stores can charge more for a $5 can - and if you have a lawnmower, that might last you a whole season.  But then again...

A Browser Curiosity
OK, I admit it, I use a couple of different browsers when I'm news hunting.  One is Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 beta and the other is Mozilla Firefox.  This morning while getting to a story about a ban on drinking Coke and Pepsi in India, at http://www.financialexpress.com/latest_full_story.php?content_id=136147, my MS Explorer popped up a box with "Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site: http://www.financialexpress.com/latest_full_story.php?content_id=136147 Operation Aborted [OK].  When I restarted the browser, it locked up.

Now, the curiosity is that the story was visible behind the pop-up.  And, when I hit "OK" the story disappeared.  I tried it with fresh browser boots several times.  So, if you're an IT whiz, tell me if this is just a flaw in my system.  Or, on a little more sinister note, is this what corporate news censorship might look like in action when a story says something as corporately challenging as:
The site popped up in Firefox, no sweat. Please tell me its a glitch in the source code on the originating page (or something on my system) and not you-know-what.....

Flak for "Chaff"
My report on "chaff" use (chaff being metallic flecks sprayed into the air to confuse radar) has drawn a mixed response.  On the one hand, I received several emails from people saying "chaff is not chemtrails" from former military pilots and experts, such as this one:
"Running down the impacts of dropping chaff is just chasing rabbits IMHO. I flew Air Force Jets for 20 years and was also involved in quite a bit of Environmental Analysis prior to my retirement, so I can speak intelligently about this particular subject.
Chaff is simply a training aid used in specific overland RESTRICTED airspace while jets are conducting training. It is NOT used in the enroute airspace over the continental USA - in other words while flying under the FAA control to and from the bombing range. Likewise, aircraft do NOT jam radar frequencies unless in an approved piece of Restricted airspace. Dispensing chaff is a training aid used while the jets are performing on the bombing or electronic warfare range, in order to train in one of the avoidance measures a jet can take to break a radar lock from a threat such as a Surface to Air missile. Fallon is a big Navy traing base for their fighter pilots, so they will dispense quite a bit of chaff on a daily basis, but only on a "postage stamp" size of restricted airspace and only while training against those electronic threat simulators. There is a handful of such bombing and electronic warfare ranges around the country. Most are in the western USA where there is room to fly and train in various combat maneuvers. For what it's worth, most chaff is dropped just a few hundred feet off the ground. Not anywhere close to the contrail/chemtrail stuff going on about 30,000 feet and higher.
All military training is done in some kind of protected airspace, with various levels of protection if we can call it that. Aircraft on low level training routes are flying low and fast, and the public is informed via aviation maps where the routes are published - so that other civilian and military aircraft can "see & avoid" each other. Aircraft that are doing maneuvers up higher are usually flying in Military Operating Area (MOA), which is just a piece of the sky that the FAA will avoid vectoring civilian traffic through. In short, a MOA is a reserved piece of airspace that is called up for the military to use when scheduled, typically for short periods of less than an hour at a time. The highest level of training, where chaff is dispensed, bombs are dropped, guns & missiles are fired, etc., is in RESTRICTED airspace, which is owned exclusively by the military. There are more types & classifications of airspace, but this is sufficient to discuss chaff.
The military does its best (at times!) to be good neighbors, so in much of the restricted airspace there is joint use of the land below it - except for the areas where munitions are actually dropped. Think of it as an upside down wedding cake. The inner piece is exclusively used to drop munitions, and no one except authorized military folks are allowed in. However, the outer layers are just used for a buffer to separate the bombing range from public use. In/under those areas you'll typically have various categories of land use such as BLM managed areas, national forests, wilderness areas, grazing allotments (where ranchers get to use the land for pennies), etc.
That's where the rabid, fanatical environmental types step in to play THE GAME: They tend to make some wild and frivilous claim such as jet hydrocarbons or noise threaten the critical habitat of some spotted critter below the airspace. The lawyers circle the wagons and find everyone who possibly can be "harmed" from the military training above. So, you wind up with the Fish & Wildlife folks claiming some particular endangered species is not spontaneously mating, the dairy farmers claiming their milk production is down, and of course the ranchers claiming that the chaff dropped from above is harmful to their livestock. And so on. Even though there is rarely if ever any actual harm found, Uncle Sam will step in with the checkbook and redistribute some wealth, and The Game goes on. Been that way since the early 60's.
Chaff related to or part of contrails/chemtrails? Nope! About as likely as bouncing a basketball is to cause an earthquake. Actually, chaff was a leftover relic from Vietnam. Things are mostly done with electronics and stealth these days. However, if you are going against some Banana Republic with 25 year old equipment, it sure doesn't hurt to hit that chaff button on the way in to your target. Good way to mark the time.
I got a kick out of the article."
On the other hand, I received a long note from a research into this, and she reported (in a long telephone conversation) that yes, sources have reported to her that aluminized fiberglass chaff can stay up 20-hours (or longer).  And when you mix in the reports of impacts of the change from JP-4 to JP-8 jet fuel (which has reportedly has additives with potential health impacts) you get lots of indications that there are really several layers of aerial deception: weather modification, electronic controls, atmospheric heating (HAARP) and a whole stew of other interests:
"U.S. Senate Bill 517 and U.S. House Bill 2995, a bill that would allow experimental weather modification by artificial methods and implement a national weather modification policy, does not include agriculture or public oversight, is on the ?fast track? to be passed in 2006.
This bill is designed to implement experimental weather modification. The appointed Board of Directors established by this bill does not include any agricultural, water, EPA, or public representatives, and has no provisions for Congressional, State, County, or public oversight of their actions or expenditures.
Weather Modification may adversely impact agricultural crops and water supplies. If the weather is changed in one state, region or county it may have severe consequences in another region, state or county. And who is going to decide the type of weather modification experimentation and who it will benefit or adversely impact?
This experimental weather modification bill will impact residents across the United States not just in California. Many current and ongoing weather modification programs (80 listed by NOAA in 2005), including the one in Wyoming that is designed to increase the snowpack, may be diverting rainwater away from Oklahoma and Texas, two states that are currently fighting fires caused by a lack of rainfall. We have no idea what the unintended consequences of the Wyoming action or other experimental weather modification programs might be now or in the future.
In addition to the experimental weather modification programs listed by NOAA, there are both private and ongoing government sponsored atmospheric testing and heating programs underway in Alaska and across the United States. Alaska Senator Stevens recently received $50 million in funding for Alaska?s atmospheric heating program.
All of these unregulated, private, government, and public weather modification programs, may also have unintended synergistic effects. Senate Bill 517 does not address these issues but intends to implement more experimental weather modification programs without a national debate or public oversight.
Artificial weather modification can impact all of us by reducing water supplies, changing agricultural crop production cycles, reducing crop production, and water availability. Since most experimental weather modification programs use chemicals released into the atmosphere the public could be subjected increasingly toxic or unknown substances that could adversely impact agricultural crops and trees.
Trimethyl Aluminum (TMA) and barium are just two of the toxic chemicals used in recent atmospheric heating and testing programs according to NASA. The Alaska H.A.A.R.P. atmospheric heating program may have the capability of changing the Jet Stream which could also change our weather.
Many private weather modification companies admit that precipitation effects may be positive or negative. Fog dispersal programs, using dry ice, liquid nitrogen, liquid propane or silver iodide may improve visibility while adversely impacting Redwood Trees along the California coast by depriving them of needed water they derive from the fog.
The increasing use of varied chemicals like aluminum (coupled with increasing air pollution), can severely impact tree health by depriving trees of water and nutrients normally absorbed through their root systems.
The December 2005 Popular Science Magazine discussed a plan to use an oil slick to stop hurricanes without noting the adverse environmental impacts of the oil used to cover the ocean.
Popular Science also noted that a private company, Dyn-O-Mat, plans to purchase jets to drop thousands of pounds of a water absorbing chemical powder (which is highly toxic), into hurricanes to absorb moisture that may dissipate hurricanes. There is no agriculture oversight or public hearings to determine the consequences of this and other actions or to monitor or prevent adverse impacts of this chemical once it falls on the surface of the ocean or on land.
Alaska and other areas across the United States are beginning to feel the impacts of climate change. Enormous changes are being seen in the declining health of native plant and tree communities in many areas across the United States.
NASA noted in an October 2005 newsletter that increasingly persistent contrails are ??trapping warmth in the atmosphere and exacerbating global warming?? NASA goes on to note that: ??Any increase in global cloud cover will contribute to long-term changes in Earth?s climate. Likewise, any change in Earth?s climate may have effects on natural resources??
Global dimming and the persistent contrails, that produce man-made clouds, may have serious impacts on crop production. A recent corn crop study in Illinois shows that cloud cover reduces corn crop production while direct sunlight increases production. In addition, increasing man-made clouds may reduce the effectiveness of solar panels.
Gil Smolin, an Avian Bird Flu expert, noted on the Ron Owens Show on KGO Radio (January 5, 2006), that the flu was spread more quickly in the winter when there was a ?lack of sunlight?. Would man-made clouds be contributing to the lack of sunlight which might cause the Avian Bird flu to spread more quickly at other times of the year? Experimental weather modification programs could also exacerbate this problem by changing climate patterns, increasing man-made cloud cover, and changing our weather and climate patterns.
Senate Bill 517 does not address any of these important issues. Its sole purpose is to establish an experimental weather modification policy without any agriculture or public oversight of private, military, and government programs. Without oversight or public hearings agriculture, our natural resources, and watersheds may be negatively impacted. And who will be responsible to determine the synergistic effects of these programs or pay for unintended disasters created by this experimentation. If these programs change growing seasons and interrupt the pollination process crop losses could be substantial exacerbating economic losses.
Please contact all of your elected local, state and federal officials to stop this bill in its present form. This bill needs to have appropriate agriculture and public oversight, with public hearings included, prior to any more experimental projects. We need a national dialogue on this subject before more experimentation takes place."
--- Rosalind Peterson, www.californiaskywatch.com
By the way, Ms. Peterson's site has a very interesting page about geoengineering, which is particularly relevant with the high global temperatures being reported this summer.
As I presented in my report yesterday, there's a lot going on in the skies overhead and virtually all of it is done without adequate oversight of the public's health and environmental impacts. Between JP-8, micro fibrous chaff, and ionospheric heating from HAARP, the military-industrial complex has a murky agenda of interlocking interests that's without adequate public review and apparently detrimental to humans.

Secrets Revealed Speeds Up
"Chaff" - The Chemtrail Realities
Anyone who has surfed the net's uncensored pages for any period of time has no doubt heard about chemtrails. There are several schools of thought on the subject, ranging from the mundane republicorp "Ain't no such thing" to the ultra-conspiracy theorist's "It's all a plot of poison huge portions of the population."  Figuring that the truth is somewhere in between the extremes usually, I was intrigued this morning to receive a pointer to the July issue of the Idaho Observer which quotes a GAO report.  The thinking seems to be that what most of us would call "chemtrails" may really be huge use of military "chaff."  Key part of the story:
"Once chaff reaches the ground, it breaks down into particles small enough to inhale. Though military spokespeople insist that chaff is not harmful, the GAO report concluded that health effects are unknown and more studies are needed. "
Naturally, being a curious sort, I went looking for Google results at [+gao +chaff].  Sure enough, there really is a 1998 GAO report that says:
"GAO noted that: (1) chaff is used worldwide in conjunction with military training, testing, and other assigned missions; (2) in fiscal year (FY) 1997, the Air Force reported using about 1.8 million bundles worldwide, Navy and Marine Corps aircraft used more than 354,000 bundles and 593 rolls, and Navy combat ships used about 10,000 large bundles; (3) DOD records indicate that FY 1998 inventories include more than 37 million bundles and more than 141,000 rolls of chaff; (4) the Air Force holds about 77 percent of the bundles, while the Navy and Marine Corps hold all the rolls; (5) the Army has some mission needs but possesses and uses little chaff in peacetime training or testing; (6) while DOD components report that chaff is an effective means of defense for aircraft, ships, and related weapons systems, DOD and other agencies have identified some unintended and potential side effects of chaff; (7) chaff can affect safety by interfering with air traffic control radar; (8) chaff can also affect weather radar observations and the operation of friendly radar systems, especially when vehicles stir up chaff that has settled on the ground; (9) the services have a number of ongoing initiatives to address concerns about the unintended and potential effects of chaff; (10) for example, DOD has entered into or is negotiating agreements with other federal agencies to address issues related to commercial air safety, weather forecasting, and environmental impacts on public lands; (11) also, the Navy has started a program to develop degradable chaff that is estimated to cost about 40 percent more than the current chaff; (12) while intended as beneficial, the Navy has not yet defined the operational and environmental benefits that could result from this program; (13) notwithstanding DOD's actions, some concerns continue to be raised by the public and federal agencies about the potentially harmful or undesirable effects of chaff on the environment; (14) also, some of DOD's studies cite additional areas where questions have been raised about the unintended effects of chaff; (15) DOD has not systematically followed up on these questions or on the recommendations of these reports to determine whether they merit additional review; and (16) DOD continues to retain lead-based chaff in its inventory even though this type of chaff has not been manufactured since 1987 and is reportedly no longer in use.
Naturally, as the word spread about "chaff" use, corpgov went into overdrive, reporting that "chaff" had no serious consequences -  and as you'd expect, by 2000 environmental groups were up in arms about it.  The Las Vegas Journal-Review reported in 2000 that a Naval Research Laboratories report in particular was questioned:
Naturally, the military contends that there's no harm to use of chaff.  But what surprised me deeply was the amount of "chaff" that was being used in 2000 over the continental US.  Specifically around Fallon Naval Air Station, located in Nevada!
To bring things up to nearer current for you, in 1998 the GAO was reporting that increased use of this "chaff" stuff was planned:
"The continuous stream technique, called saturation chaff, may be used by aircraft to cover a large area. By 2005 or 2006, the Army also plans to use saturation chaff to mask vehicle and troop movements. Using a cutter, 360 pounds of chaff from nine 40-pound rolls can be deployed in 10 minutes. Depending on the method and the number of aircraft, such releases could disperse billions of fibers. The B-52 can carry about 750 seven-ounce boxes of chaff; each box contains up to 11 million fibers that can be expelled continuously or in bursts. Most chaff bundles contain millions of fibers. For example, the chaff bundles used most by the Air Force (RR-188) and the Navy (RR-144) contain more than 5 million individual fibers each, and the Navy?s Zuni rocket warhead (RR-182) contains more than 100 million fibers."
So if you're thinking "chemtrails" and want to know where you are most likely to see them, the GAO's September 1998 report includes this handy "chaff/chemtrail" map on Page 6:

Notice how Washington DC is not impacted, but most of the rest of the country is? And this is a 1998 map, mind you.

The history of "chaff" goes back to 1954 when it was reported that the government's Chemical Corp pressed the small fiber technology forward:
"Applied research on ground and air munitions showed progress along certain lines. In filling a requirement for practical counter-measures against radar, the Corps developed a nickel coated glass fiber (Agent, Radar Screening, E10) which is approximately 400 times more effective, weight for weight, than chaff. Investigation is being continued to find the most efficient way of disseminating the coated fibers. (SECRET)"
A couple of conclusions present themselves here:
  • First, "chemtrails" are real, but they are likely, based on the available reports, advanced forms of "chaff".
  • Dispersal over the USA has been widespread and heavy for at least a decade.
And, the military's use of the "chaff" technology (a/k/a/ chemtrails) is not going away any time soon.  The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (www.darpa.mil) notes in their [unclassified] FY 2007 budget buried on page 363 of 453 that "chaff" may have an important role in standoff explosives and concealed weapons detection:
"The Standoff Explosives and Concealed Weapons Detection program will develop a standoff system for the detection of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), suicide bombs and vehicle bombs that have become weapons of havoc and destruction in current urban operations; as well as a low cost concealed weapons detection system. This program will explore various phenomenologies that may permit explosive detections. The first approach will examine chemical approaches such as spectrometry using IR photothermal signature of the explosive compounds, or standoff detection using molecular tags that change physical, electronic, or optical properties upon exposure to emitted vapors. These tags provide specific molecular information on the signature chemicals, thus enhancing specificity in the cluttered environment. They could be deployed as dust or chaff that can be dispersed in the air or sprayed on suspect vehicles, or into larger sensor structures that could be used to integrate the concentration of vapor over time."
Whether current "chaff" operations are already using "chemical tags" for identification is not known.  However, what is known is that whether by intent or accident, the reports on the web that "chemtrail residue" contains lots of other chemicals/contaminants, appear to be justified claims.

With electronic warfare and it's opposite, electronic countermeasures (along with electronic counter-counter measures) being a fertile purchasing area for corporate defense contractors, we have to expect that chemtrails/chaff use will continue to increase.  Especially if outfits like DARPA are even partially successful in tying "chaff" to real current military problems like improvised explosive devices (IED's) in battle zones like Iraq.

Like depleted uranium munitions, banned by the UN but used by the US, there's no civilian oversight of health consequences of either long term DU or "chaff"/chemtrail use on America's home soil.  Yes, we supposedly have oversight in CONgress, but you should have figured by now from the Abramoff scandal that a whispered "Want to buy some pictures?"  can push votes around with contempt and disregard for the long term health of us non-elevated citizens.

Morgellon's Longshot?
A reader who read the chaff piece sends this:
"very good report on chaff, nice work!
could be connected to Morgellons disease, people inhaling it, comes out skin, irritates?"
I'll ask!

More Feedback:
I read your report this morning and wanted to let you know that DC is impacted by chemtrails. I live right in the city and have been watching them lay these trails since 2001 and photographing some of the more dramatic examples in the last few years. While I know without a doubt that "something" up there isn't right, I'm still not sure exactly what's going on. If it's harmful, I guess either TPTB have preventative measures to take or are away from the city whenever the trails are being sprayed. We all know Bush is never here! I haven't seen much spraying lately, though, only the haze from this heat and humidity. Keep up the great work!
I don't doubt it - remember the map was from 1998...

Meantime, Back at the Wars
It's just (point pun here, but what do you expect?) "bullet points" today:
My overview on all this is that wars at this level (and higher) are predictable because in a world economy based on continuously increasing consumption in order to "make a profit" (sort of the prime directive in business), once a transition into a war economy begins, it must by necessity escalate to victory (defined however you will) by one side or the other.  Thus, more demonization of America's "enemies" - you'll note we have a lot more of them lately - but that's good for the death merchant/arms business. Speaking of which:

Money in Death
Let me again use a few "bullet points" for you:
Selling arms is a big deal in England too, where they're busy selling things like "components for nuclear reactors" to China.  Apparently, the UK's defence types haven't read "Red Dragon Rising." But then again, Hillary's Bill sold China high tech computers that could be used for evil, so it's not like corporations have any sense of shame about selling potential enemies the weapons to attack us.

And that's the point: Corporations are amoral business structures which allow collections of humans (boards of directors) to act in distinctly anti-human ways for only one thing: personal gain. But as the time maps from the web bot project at www.halfpasthuman.com show, as we enter the "revolution/rebellion" mode globally in September, you won't be able to say you didn't see it coming.

Mexican Fuse Burning
Mexico's interior secretary says the protests by the Obrador supporters are illegal.  But that headline, and the story, should not surprise you because he works for Vincente Fox who is pulling all possible strings to get his buddy Felipe Calderon installed as president.  40,000 people now living in the tent city protesters have set up in Mexico City. Thney support Lopex Obrador who is demanding a full recount. Which Fox (/Bush)/Calderon won't allow because it would get in the way of efforts of America's other government (the one not-elected) to tear down our borders with Mexico (see www.spp.gov  ).

Oily Vice
The Senate has passed legislation to expand offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.  The big problem, however, will be finding rigs to do drilling. Extreme hard to find rig time now.  And wait till be hit $100 oil this fall!

Poor Held Hostage
A perfect example of republicorp two-faced politics continues to evolve as we notice that Sinate Majority Leader First is linking an estate tax cut for the rich to an improvement of minimum wages for the poor.  We have the best lawmakers money can buy, don't we?

Beef as an Investment
Those record high temperatures recently have intensified what is already a disastrous drought in America's Heartland. Ranchers are finding things especially hard, partly because soybeans and corn harvests will be exceptionally weak according to reports.

All of this has gotten me to thinking about investing in beef: buying a quarter, half, or even a whole beef plus a freezer to put it in.  My thinking goes like this: Lot's of beef is coming to market right now because ranchers don't want to be saddled with higher feed prices later as grains go up.  But once the herd sizes are down, I figure beef will soar.  I reckon beef ought to come down in September when BBQ season slows down a bit.

I may be wrong on this, but if I am, at least I won't have to eat crow.

Personal Incomes Up
Maybe not yours.  Not mine.  But on average, says the latest government figures, they were up a bit in June:
"Personal income increased $66.5 billion, or 0.6 percent, and disposable personal income (DPI) increased $53.2 billion, or 0.6 percent, in June, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Personal consumption expenditures (PCE) increased $35.4 billion, or 0.4 percent. In May, personal income increased $41.7 billion, or 0.4 percent, DPI increased $34.6 billion, or 0.4 percent, and PCE increased $51.4 billion, or 0.6 percent, based on revised estimates."
But the headline behind the headline is that people are still spending more than they make and the national savings rate is still quite negative:
"Personal saving -- DPI less personal outlays -- was a negative $138.9 billion in June, compared with a negative $152.5 billion in May. Personal saving as a percentage of disposable personal income was a negative 1.5 percent in June, compared with a negative 1.6 percent in May. Negative personal saving reflects personal outlays that exceed disposable personal income. Saving from current income may be near zero or negative when outlays are financed by borrowing (including borrowing financed through credit cards or home equity loans), by selling investments or other assets, or by using savings from previous periods."
Castro's Health
The reins of power were handed over to Raul Castro in Cuba with fiery Fidel going into surgery to repair intestinal bleeding. Depending on who you list ten, either there will be no change, or the health crisis of Fidel could start a whole series of revolutionary changes in the region.

Its only coincidental, I'm sure, that Fidel's health is reported deteriorating as the US oil interests have been shut out of drilling in Cuban waters.

Overblown Spill
Russia media says that oil spill we reported on previously is not as bad as the Western press made it out to be.  Or is it?

Ceasefire?  Nope
Israel has rejected calls for a ceasefire.   What's more, with yesterday's call-up of additional reservists it looks like the country is heading deeper into conflict in the very near future. Condi Rice, who was sent packing from her efforts in Lebanon, is now changing topics, issuing statements to players like Iran to "heed UN" demands.  According to some media reports, Israel has 'lost the war' on all fronts, but they are expanding the battles in fresh fighting today. Syria has put its forces on alert. It's enough to stoke mushroom cloud fears.

Lest you think that my fears of the Middle East escalating into a nuclear exchange on a global scale, as first Syria, then Iran, and then China and Russia are dragged into the confrontation, I'd bring your attention to a report today that China has built nuclear shelter capabilities for 200,000 people in Shanghai alone. I'd call this "public messaging."

Iraq, meantime, continues to devolve into civil war and 52 people have been killed so far today and it's only half over (US time).

Korea Tensions
Not like we need another hotspot to report, but there's been an exchange of gunfire along the DMZ.

WiFi for the Masses
Boston is looking at installing a municipal broadband company as the city tries to bring high speed access down to about $15 per month.  While it sounds great on paper, I wouldn't be surprised in 4-5 years for such operations to go the way of the public investment in things like highways: Turned into toll operations to generate money for the free-spending politicos.

Depression Hits Home
If you thought the Second Depression was a myth, check out Paul Kasriel's article on how household income has morphed into household debt/savings depletion.

Qana: Fallout and Forecast
In the latest web bot run, which I refer to as a "rickety time machine", there's a lot of language that goes to the idea of a major battle/war involving Israel in December of this year.  And sadly, some of the language deals with children.  Posted here with exclusive permission from www.halfpasthuman.com is a peek at December from the recent (July 10) data run:
"Returning to the theme of Israeli war for a moment, we note that as the modelspace is progressed through the December release periods, a 'provocation' claimed by Israel is 'used as {a} stick' to stir up war in the region again. The indications are for an 'all out/totally committed' response to some 'perceived/claimed' grievance which will lead to the Israeli boomerang' effect. The modelspace and all of the entities are showing, via cross link, that a complex of emotions and inter connections will arise from 'Israeli war' in December and January. The effect will be to 'splash back' on Israel and to 'pull away' former supporters. This will include most of the people of the USofA and North America. This last will be due to the 'gutting/disemboweling' of what modelspace is showing as a 'tribe' of children. Yes, there will be video. As an aside, a few hints within modelspace show via cross links to the Press entity that a 'prominent/major' press personality will be 'injured unto/near death' in the attempt to 'bring out {the} news'. Further, the association of 'female' dominates the whole of this area, both within the Press entity, as well as the GlobalPop entity and Populace/USofA."
I called Cliff, the chief "time monk" who is the inventor/ chief architect of of the time inferring software technology that uses subtle language shifts across broad sweeps of the internet to perceive future developments in advance.  The conversation went something like this:
G: "So in the 1206 run, does this mean the carnage at Qana is a 'prequel' to an event worse, more grisly series of event in December, or did the bots just get the timing wrong?"

C: "Could be either. We won't know till is plays out, but it also could be a lot more complicated than that..."
In time studies, because of the way the technology works, all we know is that the December period will involve fighting in which Israel is one of the sides and the hostilities that break out will progress from December through January.  A new data run with the temporal focus Ides of March 2007 is underway now for HPH subscribers.

Those seem to be the choices: We got the image of injured children with females (mothers) correct but the timing wrong, or there's a worse event to come.  Or, as Cliff explained as our conversation went on, because the technology reads emotional impact of events in advance, the December fighting that breaks out involving Israel could involve cries from the Arab side of "Remember Qana!".

Simplified: History might be about to show us this December how "Remember Qana" might be the Arab/Middle East equivalent of "Remember the Alamo!"
---
Now that Israel has been stopped by a well organized Hezbollah defense, losing the mythos they have enjoyed since 1967 that they were the next-best-thing to invincible, we notice that Condi Rice is suddenly pushing for a cease-fire.  But wait!  What about all the Condi-blather from just a few days back about "sustainable" and "expectations"?
---
The "time stew" for the balance of this year (once we get through the relative calm of August) is not at all pretty.  Tensions will be rising from September of this year through the middle of March 2007, and along the way the global population is set to get wrapped up in a revolution/rebellion context starting about the end of August. And along with that, paper assets tank.

Mexico Perspective
Panama Bates, back from some kind of urban adventure in the El Paso area this weekend, reports maquilladores are now leaving Ciudad Juarez, El Paso's larger sister city across the river. "I think they've found people in China or elsewhere will work cheaper than Mexicans," he noted.

Also, the killing of young women there has continued.  The local wave of serial killings in Ciudad Juarez that goes back to at least 1996 has continued unabated.

Meantime, the Council on Foreign Relations and the gang that doesn't think straight (the "steal the US" group in  DC), are working full speed to tear down the Mexico border and "merge" Mexico with the US (and Canada) including a new currency to replace the US Dollar.  You can read the details of how George Bush and his corporate pals are selling out our beloved Constitutional Principle at the government's web site www.spp.gov.  Spun by naming it the "Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America, the real plan is to steal direct representation by putting in an "uber layer" of unelected officials to "run" a North American equivalent of Europe in what was at one time, our hard fought sovereign country.

There's a cute trick to how they're doing it, too.  By calling the paperwork with Mexico "agreements", the Decider in Chief's minions can sign away your sovereignty without CONgressional review.  Wouldn't want to wake those good old boys up, but if this was on the up-and-up, these "agreements" would be called what they really are - TREATIES - and that would force the GOB's to at least be answerable to voters.  Thief in the night stuff, for sure.

More than one reader has suggested that any official of government or private organization, seemingly bent on selling out independent America, should be brought up on treason charges.  I can't find any reason to disagree.

Patriotic Paradox:  What's curious as hell to me, is that while some in the US are trying to sneak through Constitution-and-border-busting busting legislation that would, among other things, call on the US to defend Mexico's southern border, the non-Bush-Fox-Calderon groups in southern Mexico are rallying behind Lopez Obrador.  He's busily calling for his supporters to occupy the center of Mexico City, occupy Mexican embassies, and airports - not to mention demanding a recount in what many observers believe is a tainted election.

There's an historical dance underway here, full of moves and dodges miraculous to behold: US sell-outs are trying to "incorporate" Mexico and Canada into America, Mayan Mexicans are trying to prevent the "incorporate" Mexicans from stealing their election, and American MSM (mainstream media) being (as usual) months behind events by putting a virtual news blackout on efforts to sell-out US sovereignty. He who pays the pipers, huh?  But, that's what happens with the 300-richest families in the world controlling  more assets than the poorest 3-billion people on the planet.  You get megalomania from the "we have money, therefore we're better than you, so we'll make the decisions..." kind of thinking.  No thanks!

The real power players were all at the Bohemian Grove meeting in California this weekend.  So now, media blackouts aside from MSM, you know why Tony Blair was doing San Francisco this weekend. Read the datelines!

U.N.-American?
Several boards that discuss the operation of UN and other foreign forces on CONUS United States soil have been heating up.  Here's a good example: reports of cremation trucks and foreign soldiers training US forces on escape and evasion.

Tamils Fighting
And, as if you need any convincing that the Global Population (entity in web bot model space) has accurately forecast the rebellion/revolution transition, I have to point out that Tamil Tigers have stepped up fighting against government forces in Sri Lanka. Remember, revolution/rebellion is going global on a planet near you this fall.  This is foreplay...

Name Game
In Malaysia, authorities are trying to tell folks what they can name their children.  The BBC reports that naming your child "Hitler, smelly dog, or 007"  is now verbotten. Big long list, too. Makes the "hippie era" in the US with names like Spring, Summer, Rain, and such as an almost idyllic time.  Call me anything but don't call me late for dinner...

Secrets Revealed
One of our sources in Illinois was up early watching NBC this morning and reports this:
"Just saw a promo for NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams for tonight. A feature story will be how increasing gas/diesel prices will soon be driving up food prices at your local grocery store. (What does he mean "soon"? They are already clearly rising in this area.)"
OK, so prices going up is not exactly a "secret" but what is might be putting it on mainstream.  Gosh: Next thing you know they will talk about how "core rates" (ex-food and ex-energy) is a deliberate scam to keep you from expecting to gety screwed as badly as you are at the store.  That's what the Feb BS phrase "setting inflation expectations" means: It's like saying "We're screwing your checkbook, but we don't want you to notice" or we'll skip from price-push inflation to something more...er...real.

Cuban Oil Leverage

Leo Wanta Story
I continue to get emails about how supposedly $4.5 trillion dollars is about to land in US coffers in a highly complex case involving a fellow named Leo Wanta. While I would be happy to see $4.5 trillion land in the Treasury, I'm still putting this story in the woo-woo category.

Sidebar: Psychology: There's something strange going on in "universal monkey mind" at the moment: tons of people are starting to circulate 'savior" stories.  Leo Wanta is to be the "savior" of national financial issues.  "SETI has picked up real alien communications,  but the government is blocking them," goes another story making the rounds.  A number of religious/faith-based sites are suggesting that either "The tribulations are about to start August (various dates), or other "End Times" events.

For my part, I'll pass along snips of it here and there, like the Wanta story on the off chance there's something to it.  However, if you find a story that just seems to fit with too many of your hopes and desires (peace, harmony, balanced budget, nice world, friendly humans), take all those stories and pour out about two-fingers of Scotch and go think through the logic of it.  Is it real, or is it a fiction occupying you so that you won't focus on the real, provable wrong/misdirection/sleights-of-hand that lurk just beneath today's headlines?

If the Wanta case results in a real lawsuit in Federal Court tomorrow, we will, of course, be all over that like a bad smell on do-do.  It won't be the first time I've been served crow, but I don't expect it. It sounds a little too pat, too much like a 'savior" story.  And last time I checked, Universe helps those that help themselves.  And that' starts with alot of facts and logical analysis.

THE POLE SHIFT Vision - 06/28/2006

Thanks for this very interesting and timely information, Larry!

You know, I certainly 'feel' a shift is going on.. not evenly, but in steps, in lurches.. maybe there'll be a big lurch, soon.  Like around August 14-16 ?

Lately I myself have been feeling strangely dizzy at times.. perceptions seem to subtly shift - sort of as if were wearing bifocals and stepping down steps that aren't where they look like they should be, sleeping some nights only 2-3 hours and others 10 - 13 hours.. time seems to be speeding up, disappearing almost, but very unevenly. Sometimes feel a bit disoriented, like 'out of it'..  Strange dreams with feelings of anger and frustration at not having enough time to get everything everybody (and myself) want me to have done by certain deadlines.. When wake up at night recently seem to have obsessive thoughts - not necessarily worries, but repetive themes..can't get them out of my head without extreme effort of focus, prayer and meditation.  My energy levels are fluctuating - literally!  Sometimes feel very strong and energetic, sometimes draggy and weak!  However, I know my health is excellent.  None of this seems to be related to any of my eating, or what I do, except 'symptoms' get a lot more tolerable with yoga, prayer and meditation.

I'm feeling a strong urge to get things organized, get loose ends tied up, out of debt, throw out junk.. like 'now or never'... hmmnn..

How about the rest of you?  Are you experiencing anything like this? What are your insights?
I know certain of you have related to me that they have been 'told' that there was a shift on Aug. 3rd.  Maybe so, but it's not the first and certainly not the last!

THE POLE SHIFT - 06/28/2006

" I was in this place and I was looking at the beautiful stars
in the night skies when suddenly they started moving, first
slowly and then very fast. It looked as if they were falling
from the skies to the earth. Then I realized that it was not
the stars that were moving, but the earth itself. I had to hold
on to a nearby object from the violent rolls and spinning taking
place. A feeling of dizziness and confusion came over me. Then I
noticed that UFO's started appearing everywhere, as if they were
connected to the whole thing. When I came out of this experience,
I was still feeling confused and disoriented. "

Many quakes in Ohio

NUMEROUS TREMORS IN CLEVELAND: WHAT'S NEXT?

Posted By: anarchtype <Send E-Mail>
Date: Thursday, 3 August 2006, 10:26 p.m.

MENTOR, Ohio (AP) -- A corner of suburban Cleveland has become the
earthquake capital of Ohio, shaking on average every two weeks since
New
Year's Day and making people wonder: What's next?

The quakes haven't caused any serious problems and sometimes even go
unnoticed. Experts aren't sure why they are happening, but they do know
they
are happening frequently: Twelve were recorded in the area by July 1.

"I heard one," said Jim Farrell, 79, of Mentor, a retired plasterer
with an
eye for wall damage. Still, he hasn't seen any damage and hasn't felt
any of
the quakes recorded in Lake County and under adjacent Lake Erie.

The earthquakes have been small, measuring from magnitude 2.0 to 3.8.
In
comparison, the 1994 quake that hit the Northridge area of Los Angeles,
California, was a 6.7 magnitude.

Though they are occurring often now, earthquakes aren't uncommon in the
region. Lake County has been the site for 14 of the 20 earthquakes
recorded
in the state in the past two years. The quakes result from a fault, or
crack, that is under pressure, one of a number of faults in Ohio, most
of
which are under the sedimentary bedrock.

Ground zero for keeping track of the Lake County earthquakes is a busy
classroom building on the Lakeland Community College campus, where a
seismic
monitor sits on the concrete floor of a tiny closet housing electric
boxes.

The monitor is sensitive enough to pick up the rumblings of a heavy
truck
along nearby Interstate 90, according to David Pierce, an assistant
geology
professor who keeps tabs on readings forwarded to the statewide Ohio
Seismic
Network near Columbus.

To Pierce, a low-level earthquake "always feels like a semi
[tractor-trailer] coming down my street and hits a rock or a speed
bump,"
sending a boom like a burst of compressed air.

Pierce, like police and fire departments, can get dozens of calls when
an
earthquake strikes, often from people happy to learn that it didn't do
damage and wasn't a terror attack.

Without damage or injury from the series of quakes, the question for
many
is: Will the next one be worse?

"The official take is: We don't know," Pierce said.

The Animals Know ..

Did Portland dogs sense the earthquake?

02:16 PM PDT on Thursday, August 3, 2006
By KRISTINA BRENNEMAN, kgw.com Staff
If people are looking for early earthquake warnings, they might want to go to the dogs.
kgw.com/OHS
Glitzy Girl, one of the dogs up for adoption, at the Oregon Humane Society.
It turns out that a dozen dogs were anxious and frantically barking most of Wednesday afternoon at the Oregon Humane Society shelter, ?giving off a different vibe? than usual, said Executive Director Sharon Harmon.
Hours later, a 3.8 magnitude earthquake occurred near Battle Ground, Washington. No damage or injuries were reported.
?It was one of those days where everyone was wanting to bark,? she said. ?They were barking their heads off. This was far more anxious barking. I don?t know if they knew what was happening. It was unusual for them.?
Harmon said she doesn?t know if the dogs sensed the shift in the earth?s core, but she noted that dogs can sense all kinds of things, including when someone is going to have an epileptic seizure and the ability to smell cancer in a patient's breath.
The National Geographic magazine reported in 2003 the belief that dogs can sense earthquakes has been around for centuries.
One theory is that wild and domestic creatures feel the Earth vibrate before humans, the magazine said. Others suggest they detect electrical changes in the air or gas released from the Earth.
In September 2003 a medical doctor in Japan made headlines with a study that indicated erratic behavior in dogs, such as excessive barking or biting, could be used to forecast quakes, the article noted.
?I?m so glad it was an earthquake because it explained yesterday,? Harmon said of the dog's erratic barking.

Snow falls in South Africa as the US swelters in heatwave

Snow falls in South Africa as the US swelters in heatwave

By Elsa McLaren and agencies

Heavy snow has fallen on Johannesburg for the first time in 25 years as South Africa faces some of its harshest weather conditions for decades.
Across the world extreme weather is affecting millions of people, with the east coast of America baking in a heatwave and tens of thousands of Chinese having to flee their homes as Typhoon Prapiroon approaches.
At least four South Africans have been reported dead, police said yesterday. Snow, rain and rockfalls have closed mountain roads across the country.
Torrential rains caused flooding in the eastern and southern Cape. The bodies of two men and two children were recovered yesterday after their car was swept from a bridge into a rain-swollen river in the coastal town of George. Rescuers were looking for a fifth person also believed to have been in the car.
Snow, freezing temperatures and gale force winds were expected to persist in parts of the country today, according to the weather service, which had posted cold-weather warnings on its website
Kevin Rae, assistant manager of forecasting at the South African Weather Service in Pretoria, said: ?It [the snow] is by no means freakish but I would certainly classify it as rare."
Johannesburg last had snow on September 11, 1981. Widespread snow across the country had been recorded only twice in the past 20 years, in 1981 and 1988.
In the United States the National Weather Service was again posting heat warnings from Massachusetts to South Carolina and Oklahoma.
Since Sunday, local authorities have confirmed that there have been at least 12 heat-related deaths and a further seven more are suspected. The same heat wave has been blamed for about 164 deaths last week in California.
In Boston, a pregnant woman died on Saturday after collapsing at a Red Sox game, and yesterday, an 18-month-old boy was found dead inside a van in Kentucky.
In Illinois, at least six heat-related deaths have been confirmed in Cook County since Sunday, and police believe that another six deaths in Chicago yesterday could be heat-related.
To add to the sweltering temperatures, power blackouts have affected thousands of customers along the east coast due to high demand.
Today in Pakistan flash flooding and mudslides triggered by heavy rains have killed 19 people and injured 10.
Police said that another five people are believed missing.

Jews are very concerned about Weds. Aug. 3, 2006

Why we Jews are concerned about this coming Wednesday.
9th of AV.
8-1-06
Every year on the 9th of AV (this year August 3rd) the Jews of Israel hold their breath hoping that nothing bad will happen. The 1st Temple was destroyed by the Babylonians under Nebuchadnezzar on the 9th of AV, 586 BCE (BC); 2nd Temple was burnt down by the Romans under Titus on the same date in 70 CE (AD).
Many disasters have happened to the Jewish people on this date, since the fall of the 2nd Temple Tishah be-Av has been the date of terrible persecutions to the Jewish people. The Romans capture of Bar Kokhibas last stronghold (135 CE). On the same date the following year a pagan shrine erected on the Temple Mount. The exile of the Jews from medieval England 1290 and from Spain on the same date in 1492 and the slaughter of Jews during the Holocaust (Shoah) just to mention a few.
The war we are now faced with here in Israel and Lebanon is a very important phase in the war that many are now consider to be the beginning of the 3rd World War. If Israel is somehow forced to concede giving Hizbullah a perceived victory it will mean terrible things for the US and the world in general. What I find so amazing is how the UN and the EU continue to blame Israel for everything, never mentioning the terror of over 1700 rockets that has been fired into Israel, causing many deaths and injuries. Or the fact that Hizbullah is a terrorist organization that has taken over Lebanon. It is way past time that we try to understand why the UN and the EU never blame Islamic Arab (Terrorist) organizations, and the answer can be summed up in one world "OIL". No one wants to pay $20 a gallon for gas. Little Israel has no oil, in fact we have a very small piece of land to grow things on, and most of it was once considered worthless, but just as God has prophesied the Desert has bloomed.
Today we hear Hizbullah shouting "death to America" and if you think they are just shouting that for the fun of it, you have another shocking revelation coming right at you. And if Rice or Bush is forced somehow to join the cry for a premature cease-fire before we are able to destroy or at least seriously damage the military capabilities of Hizbullah. You will see millions in the Islamic Arab world join the cry "death to America" and Hizbullah will recruit them by the hundreds of thousands into their ranks.
In 1981 the world condemned Israel for destroying the Iraqi nuclear reactor, but today we are thanked for doing it. Once again its Israel that is on the front line against the enemy that wants to take over the world, but all we hear is condemnation from those we are actually saving. The rest of the world has a choice, to allow Israel to totally destroy Hizbullah here and now or fight them later on your own front doors.
I was a IDF soldier in the 1982 war when we went after the PLO for shooting these same deadly Katyushas rockets at us. We had Arafat backed up to the sea in west Beirut and ready to finish him and his group of terrorist off. But their rescuers came for them, it was the US 6th fleet. The US picked them all up at the docks in Beirut and took them to Tunis, they licked their wounds and today we are still fighting them because we were not allowed to finish the job. We dont need that to happen again, and if anyone believes a multinational force will stop Hizbullah and all the other Islamic terrorist groups to become rational civilized folks, you have another thought coming. This is a spiritual war; good against evil and if I need to tell anyone who the good guys are I am wasting my time writing this article. This is a battle not only for Israels survival but quiet possibly for yours as well.
Daily I come in contact with Moslems and they all have the same detached look in their eyes, they have been completely taken over with the evil of Islam. They can only think of one thing to kill the Infidels (you and me). I am asked several times every week if I am frightened or if I plan to leave, the answer to both is NO, this is where God has placed us and this is where we will stay until the end, when or however that may occur. I know that God has called us to this Ministry and we will continue with ours eyes on Him and no other. Believing the Ruach Ha Koddesh to lead and guide us in the way we should and will go and that many Jewish lives will be saved. There is nothing the Devil would like more than to see you and others back away out of fear or wrong decisions. Knowing that this is a Body Ministry and everyone he can convince to turn away with their financial help is damage to what God has called us to accomplish in His Name. I have two prayers concerning this possibility, I pray daily that God will bless those who reach out to bless Israel be it this Ministry or any other in Israel. I pray that for every one the Devil is able to steal from the hands of God that a hundred more will take his or her place.
We are very close to moving this part of the ministry out in a very powerful way, and there has never been a time when your support is more important than today. If you will pray over this I know God will speak to you, just sit everything aside clear your mind of your daily problems and ask God to speak to you in your quiet time with Him.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, pray for our son Joel and all the IDF soldiers. Pray for this Ministry and your part in it. Shalom, jerry golden

Mayon's behavior puzzles volcanologists, disaster control officials

 PIA Press Release
08/02/2006
Legazpi City (2 August) -- Scientist at the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) here said yesterday that Mayon volcano in Albay is showing a different pattern in its eruptive behavior leading to an eruption not seen during the past several eruptions since 1968.
Mayon continued to puzzle yesterday volcanologists and even disaster control officials here on what specific actions to take particularly in the raising of the volcano's alert level to a higher scale or what order to give to the potential evacuees.
Ed Laguerta, the government volcanologist who has been able to witness Mayon eruptions since 1968, admitted that the Albay volcano's very long yet "passive" lava flow at present, that had already traveled to as far as 5.9 kilometers from its summit crater yesterday, is so far the longest lava flow event that it displayed even before an explosive eruption could have started.
Laguerta recalled that all the 1968, 1984 and the 1993 eruption episodes were also characterized by lava flows then followed by explosive explosions, but said that the lava only reached as far as four- to five kilometers from the crater.
"At present, Mayon's lava flow had already traveled almost six kilometers down the crater although explosive eruption has not yet even started," Laguerta said.
The scientist said that they cannot raise yet its alert level since no lava fountaining is observed, which is one of the major indicators for putting Mayon under alert level 4.
"We have to admit that this unusual lava flowing of Mayon makes us to re-assess our indicators in raising a volcano's alert level. This volcano is making us think," Laguerta said.
On the other hand, Cedric Daep, chief of the Albay Disaster Management Office, also admitted that they cannot yet order any evacuation since Phivolcs still maintain Mayon's alert level to 3.
"We cannot just order an evacuation without basis or at least recommendation from Phivolcs. But everything is in place in case Mayon's alert level is raised to 4," Daep said, after he and Mayor Noel Rosal had conducted an occular inspection yesterday morning of the barangays to be affected, particularly Bonga, Mabinit and Buyuan, and alerted residents for an evacuation anytime.
Laguerta is resolved so far of merely recommending evacuation on a "case-to-case" basis, the first time the Phivolcs will be doing, in case lava moves closer to the populated portions of the villages at the foot of the 2,462-meter volcano.
"If lava would further advance down slopes, we will only recommended evacuation of those residents whose areas are likely to be hit by the incandescent materials. We will not recommend for total evacuation since not all areas are affected, in case lava reaches some of the inhabited areas," Laguerta said.
Ernesto Corpus, volcano monitoring chief of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), had observed lava flow the other night at a distance of five to ten meters, and declared that the toe of the flowing incandescent materials were travelling at an average rate of four meters an hour at very low inclines in Barangay Mabinit here.
Corpus said that with this rate, lava is expected to touch the boundary of the six kilometer radius permanent danger zone today or tomorrow.
Phivolcs observed in its bulletin yesterday that lava had advanced at 200 meters in the past 24 hours, while its sulfur dioxide emission dropped to 7,418 tons.
At least 7,500 families from 10 villages will be evacuated anytime that Mayon's alert level is raised to 4.
Mayon started to emit lava on July 14 and volcanologists estimated that it is ejecting some one million cubic meters of volcanic materials everyday.
Laguerta, however, admitted that the possibility that it would still proceed to an explosive eruption remains very high due to the continued very high volumes of SO2 emissions.
"Although the possibility for Mayon to just culminate through lava flow is not very remote, its chance of going to a higher eruption level is also very possible," he said. (PIA) [top]
