Giant Underwater Pyramid Found Near Azores Island (english subtitles)
Published on Sep 24, 2013
"Researchers have discovered an underwater pyramid 60 meters high and 8000 meters square base near the Bank De João de Castro, between the islands of Terceira and São Miguel. The structure was identified by the sailor Diocleciano Smith based on bathymetry readings. The author does not believe that the pyramid is of natural origin. The Government says that the matter is already being investigated with the support of the Portuguese Navy."
The Azores are an interesting region which consists of a chain of nine volcanic islands in three main groups that are roughly 930 miles west of the capital, Lisbon. They are all situated around the fault lines between the North American, Eurasian and African tectonic plates.
The pyramid was found in an area of the mid-Atlantic and it is believed that the structure has been underwater for about 20,000 years, which is considered to be the time of the last ice age where glaciers were melting.
Fascinating conversation
The major task facing the team working to unravel the mystery about the structure is to determine whether the pyramid was built by a civilization, or if it was the result of natural occurrences.
Not long ago, archeologists from the Portuguese Association of Archaeological Research (PAAR) discovered evidence on Pico Island, not far from where the pyramid was discovered, that suggests that humans had existed in the Azores region before the arrival of the Portuguese thousands of years ago.
Based on this discovery by the PAAR, many believe that the pyramid could have been built by different civilizations… long before the arrival of the Portuguese on the island.
