As expected, Isaac strengthened into the season's fourth hurricane on Tuesday and now is projected to hit near New Orleans either late tonight or early Wednesday.
At 2 p.m., Isaac was about 55 miles southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River - 135 miles southeast of New Orleans - lumbering northwest at 10 mph with sustained winds of 75 mph.
The system is forecast to make landfall with sustained winds of 80 mph, or as a weak Category 1 hurricane.
