Earth's Coldest Temp ever Recorded

Global Warming, Anyone?

WASHINGTON (AP) — Feeling chilly? Here's cold comfort: You could be in East Antarctica which new data says set a record for "soul-crushing" cold.

Try 135.8 degrees Fahrenheit below zero; that's 93.2 degrees below zero Celsius, which sounds only slightly toastier. Better yet, don't try it. That's so cold scientists say it hurts to breathe.
A new look at NASA satellite data revealed that Earth set a new record for coldest temperature recorded. It happened in August 2010 when it hit -135.8 degrees. Then on July 31 of this year, it came close again: -135.3 degrees.
The old record had been -128.6 degrees, which is -89.2 degrees Celsius.
Ice scientist Ted Scambos at the National Snow and Ice Data Center said the new record is "50 degrees colder than anything that has ever been seen in Alaska or Siberia or certainly North Dakota."
"It's more like you'd see on Mars on a nice summer day in the poles," Scambos said, from the American Geophysical Union scientific meeting in San Francisco Monday, where he announced the data. "I'm confident that these pockets are the coldest places on Earth."

The last time Chicago had subzero temperatures this early in the season was Dec. 9, 1995. Unfortunately for Chicagoans, it won’t be long before the mercury is back below zero.CHICAGO (CBS) – Chicagoans were hit with the coldest December temperatures in nearly 20 years on Tuesday, and the Wednesday morning commute could be a challenge as the area will get hit with more snow.
Chicago could see subzero temperatures again Wednesday night. Before that, Chicago likely will get more snow–up to 2 to 4 inches.

Jordan hit by rare snow storm

Jordan's capital, Amman, experiences heavy snow as rare weather conditions hit the gulf region. More than half of Jordan is covered by the Arabian desert, and winter temperatures average around 13°C. But the region is being affected by a polar depression, and experts say the cold weather is expected to continue

For a small country, Jordan has an extraordinary range of climates. The best time to visit climate-wise is in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when the daytime temperatures aren't too extreme. April is probably the best month, when temperatures are warm and wildflowers are in bloom. March can be cold and rainy in the north but is balmy by the Gulf of Aqaba and the Dead Sea.

Average daytime maximum temperatures in Amman range from 12.6°C in January to 32.5°C in August.

La Nina Reborn, will strengthen this Winter

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The dreaded La Nina weather anomaly, blamed for both drought and record snowfall in the U.S., has returned and will garner strength during the coming winter, the Climate Prediction Center forecast Thursday.

"While it is not yet clear what the ultimate strength of this La Nina will be, La Nina conditions have returned and are expected to gradually strengthen and continue into the Northern Hemisphere winter (of) 2011-12," the CPC said in a monthly update.

It said waters in the eastern half of the equatorial Pacific Oceancooled in August, and the "oceanic and atmospheric patterns reflect the return of La Nina conditions."

The CPC is an office under the U.S. National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration. It issues monthly reports on the El Nino and La Nina weather phenomena. Both weather patterns often follow one another in the Pacific.

El Nino is an abnormal warming of waters in the Pacific and led to the failure of India's vital monsoon in 2009/10.La Nina is the opposite and is often linked to the ramping up of storms in the Atlantic basin which threaten oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.

Worldwide List - Dying Animals, Biblically speaking,

Why Animals are Dying... Biblically speaking

By Brian M. Williams

Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 8:20pm

If you've been paying attention to the news lately, I'm sure you are aware of the increase of strange animal deaths all over the world. At the bottom of the note I've included a timeline of these events, but I truly believe this is the reason why.

Jesus instructs us in Luke 12:56,  "You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky, but why do you not know how to interpret the present time?"

I believe that much CAN be said and much SHOULD be said on the phenomena that is occurring in nature as a prophetic sign of what's occurring in the spiritual realm, but for the purpose of this note, I don't want to go into great detail, I'll simply give you a scripture from Hosea 4:1-3 which mirrors the spiritual reality of our world today, especially America. At the bottom, read the list of animal deaths that have occurred in the past few weeks of 2011. We are in a critical juncture as a nation, this is the hour to come before the Lord in repentance.

"Hear the word of the LORD, You children of Israel, For the LORD brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land:â€Å“ There is no truth or mercy Or knowledge of God in the land. By swearing and lying, Killing and stealing and committing adultery, They break all restraint, With bloodshed upon bloodshed. Therefore the land will mourn; And everyone who dwells there will waste away With the beasts of the field And the birds of the air; Even the fish of the sea will be taken away." - Hosea 4:1-3

These type of revelations are not things we should brag about, or tell others as if we are some sort of incredibly insightful person, it should be brought forth with tears.

This nation is standing on the brink of a terrible disaster, which ironically in contrast to the way most people understand the ways of the Lord, is actually merciful of God. We need a major wake-up call in this nation. As Joel 2:1 states "BLOW the TRUMPET in ZION, and SOUND an ALARM in my HOLY mountain, let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the Day of the Lord is coming." this is the hour for the kingdom of priest ( the church) to rend their hearts and not their garments.

We must seek the Lord while He may be found, for the Lord delights in mercy, and relents from wrath. For those of you out there who remain indifferent about the hour in which we live, I would question whether you truly know the Lord, because in this hour the BRIDEGROOM IS SHOUTING to the church, to COME OUT OF BABYLON!!

Psalm 96:11-13 "11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fullness thereof. 12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice 13 Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.

All of creation is GROANING for the church to be the Holy People of God, emerging in His authority and Power, ushering His kingdom to the earth.

Here is a list of animal deaths that confirm the Hosea 4:1-3 reality that we are witnessing in the earth today..

Food Prices are Exploding

'Explosive' Food Prices the Biggest Risk: Analyst

CNBC Senior News Editor

Overheating emerging markets, in China in particular, pose the biggest threat to the market and political situation in 2011 according to Philippe Gijsels, head of research at BNP Paribas Fortis Global Markets.

Food prices will contribute to rising world inflation, analysts warned.

“These economies are clearly overheating and governments are putting measures in place to slow them down to fight inflationary pressure. More than anything else, food inflation is a problem," Gijsels told CNBC.com.

"In countries were 70 percent to 80 percent and sometimes more of a family's budget goes to food, explosive price rises risk to destabilize these societies. Remember the old saying: 'hunger starves civilizations,’” he added.

“We believe that some of these governments will be quite aggressive in their inflation fight. And we do not even want to think about the consequences if this year were to have a disappointing monsoon,” Gijsels said.

He is worried that everyone is so bullish on China’s ability to engineer a soft landing.
“There is almost no emerging market bear to be found. And that in itself is already scary," Gijsels said.

"Nobody will be surprised when we see more (economic) volatility in Europe or even the US. A stronger slowdown in emerging markets than we currently expect would take everybody by surprise. Therefore its market impact would be much more violent,” he added.

Watch the Central Banks
Gijsels said he was surprised how quickly the market tested Portugal and the EU’s resolve to protect it in 2011 but believes the ECB has now drawn a line in the sand.

“The ECB responded by supporting the bond markets of the weaker countries and were able to make the first couple of important auctions of the year into a success. It looks like the ECB has drawn a line in the sand around Portugal, first and foremost to defend Spain,” he said.

“They just cannot let one or more countries fail for they would risk a repeat of the Lehman Brothers' debacle on a national level,” Gijsels added.

Last year, the main positive development was the central banks and governments were able to "keep the system afloat," but the main disappointment was that they were unable to normalize monetary conditions and had to put more exceptional measures in place, according to Gijsels.
“Still, the resolve to not let the world economy slip into a Japanese or US depression of the '30s scenario is also very clear….in 2011 we will be more than anything else Fed, ECB and PBOC watchers,” he said.

Coldest Town on Earth

Oymyakon to Face Coldest Temperature Ever

“Oymyakon is known as the coldest town on earth after it reached a temperature of minus 76 degrees Fahrenheit. But in the following days meteorologists expect it to decrease to minus 83.2 to 90.4 degrees Fahrenheit.”

Obviously Siberia is exempt from global warming.
This is definitely one of those videos I watch and can’t help but ask, “Why would you?” Then again, I have probably gone a bit ’soft’ having traded snowy winters for rainy ones.
On a serious note, I am worried though. I’m sure they have survived a lot, but I would hate to see someone freeze to death up there with the decrease in temperatures.
