            What’s going on with the weather? Science lesson time again. But, as usual, I’ll keep it simple, so even I can understand it.

            People who don’t believe in global warming say “Look, it’s snowing, so how can there be global warming?” Wrong. Global warming starts off by causing it to snow more. Yep.  Doesn’t sound right when you first hear it, but let me explain. Pollution causes the protective ozone layer around the earth to get thinner. Thinner ozone layer, more solar radiation gets through, so things get hotter, right? So, how does that make it snow?  Here’s an example - put a cup of water on a working radiator. It’s not hot enough to boil, but the water will evaporate away. The hotter the water, the more the evaporation. That’s what the sun does to the oceans. So when it’s hotter, there is more evaporation and more water goes into the atmosphere. Got it? But things don’t get hot all around the earth at the same time. The wet atmosphere circulates and eventually hits some cold Arctic air from the North Pole. What happens when water vapor gets cold? Put some water into the freezer and see for yourself. Turns to ice and snow, doesn’t it? So, more water in the air means more rain and snow on the ground. The weather gets more unstable and wonky. Same thing happens down on the lower part of the earth in Australia and Antarctica.  That’s why you see huge Queensland floods. For those who haven’t kept up with that news, it’s so bad in Australia that a 55 mile long river of flood waters has created a new small sea in the southwestern part of Australia. Tiger sharks are now swimming among the flooded homes.  Really. Then a huge cyclone hit northeastern Australia. And here you’ve been worried about Christina Aguilera flubbing the words to the National Anthem.

            But anyway, man-made global warming is the least of our problems. We’ve got bigger trouble. We’ve got trouble with a “t” and that rhymes with “p” and that stands for “polar shift.”  

            Surrounding the center core of our planet is a large amount of liquid iron that is very hot and spins very fast along with the earth. The hot spinning iron creates a magnetic field for our planet. That magnetic field extends past our atmosphere and pushes away high energy particles from the sun and from outer space so they don’t hit the earth and make things hotter than they are. If our planet didn’t have a magnetic field, high energy particles would hit the planet instead of being repelled into space, and we’d end up looking like our sister planet Venus (which is the same size as Earth, but where year round temperatures are hot enough to melt lead).

Since the magnetic field is caused by a spinning liquid magnet, the field shifts a little bit from year to year. If you take out your compass it doesn’t really point to the geographic North Pole, but rather to magnetic north which is not exactly located at the top of the planet. For the longest time, the pole was moving around about five miles each year. Until recently. Now it’s speeding up and moving 40 miles a year, and getting faster each year, plus it’s developing gap areas where there is no magnetic protection. Some scientists believe these gaps in the magnetosphere are letting in toxic cyanide-containing clouds called noctilucent clouds from the upper atmosphere and that’s what’s killing all the birds. 

Scientists think this means the magnetic poles are going to flip soon. The North and South magnetic poles change directions every new hundred thousands of years. This is called geomagnetic reversal. The planet itself doesn’t move, just the polarity of the magnetic fields changes. The thing is - the historical record indicates that before the poles change directions, the magnetic pole disappears completely. The last time this happened was 780,000 years ago, so we are overdue. Don’t believe it? Well, in Tampa, Florida, they are changing the magnetic navigation guidance numbers on the runways to keep up with the changes in the magnetic pole.

What happens when the field disappears when the ozone layer is so weak? No one knows for sure, but I’ll bet that means a lot more water will evaporate, and we’ll have a lot more rain and snow. The result will be more storms like the ones that hit Australia. Superstorms, but over here.

By the way, the planet’s geographical poles also physically shift a bit. They have a wobble like a spinning top. There’s a sort of pattern to the wobble, called precession. Without getting too scientific about it, the pattern is reliable. Or at least, it used to be. Because according to author Terrence Aym, the Earth’s wobble has disappeared. Where did it go? No one knows - maybe Lindsay Lohan took it. But he thinks all these signs are proof that another Ice Age is coming. Apparently, we were overdue for that too.

So maybe you’d better stock up on ice melt and sun block, unless maybe it’s just another liberal plot. Oh, and try not to breathe too much.

I personally think all of this cold weather has a lot to do with the Icelandic volcano- Eyjafjallajökull that erupted last spring... Volcanic eruptions have altered weather throughout history. The bad news is that another Icelandic volcano- (Bárdarbunga) is set to erupt soon and it is predicted to have a much bigger impact than Eyjafjallajökull.... I would agree that there are some strange magnetic anomalies occurring but who can predict that a pole shift will happen anytime soon. I sure hope not!

Leading Theories For Falling Birds And Fish

As the mainstream media attempts to downplay the latest die-off event, which has now gone global, it is worthwhile to keep track of the story lines. Saturday, February 5, 2011 1 Mainstream Explanations:  Lightning, hail, mid-air collision, power lines, and New Year fireworks for the birds . . . but disease for the fish. This is even rolling eyes in the mainstream media. Birds are incredibly sensitive to their environment (think Canary in the coal mine), and the thought that they were caught by surprise, or that they "fowled" up their flight pattern is patently ridiculous. And where are the roasted birds from this lightning strike? And what about fish dying in the same region? Just a "disease" coincidence. One mainstream headline has to be enshrined as the saddest attempt at sensationalism, while revealing an obvious natural conclusion Falling Birds Likely Died From Massive Trauma. Really? 2 Meteor showers:  We are in a period of intense seasonal meteor showers, and several perennial YouTubers reported hearing sonic booms in the area that could have indicated a local shock wave. This would be one non-conspiratorial, natural cause that actually makes sense, but it is hard to connect to both birds and fish, unless it produced a disabling frequency. There were indeed other sound anomalies according to the report highlighted above.  3 New Madrid Fault Line:  An excellent article by The American Dream collated data about the recent earthquake activity along this fault line that runs along the mid-eastern section of the U.S. Combined with gas fracking, the immense geological activity in the region, and the BP oil drilling disaster, which off-gassed the dispersant, Corexit, into the atmosphere, and we should be wondering about any mass deaths in the region. Nevertheless, this has turned into a global event, so the above could be a side effect of something larger, or a direct contributing factor. 4 Government testing:  The long history of government testing has been exposed by many researchers. The strange component to this die-off is that only certain species have been affected, but within the entire region. And some reports have indicated that the organs of these birds were liquefied, which could indicate a possible virus. Could this implicate species-specific bio-weapons? It is on record that discussions have taken place about race-specific bio-weapons; perhaps this is a test of delivery capability? 5 GMO mutation:  Mike Adams of Natural News sets forth an interesting theory: this latest event is local, but the die-offs are happening across species as bee populations and bats are also declining. Adams points out that Monsanto has a corporate office in Arkansas. Just wondering. 6 Geoengineering:  Could spraying in the area have caused this type of fallout? Perhaps something new added to the mixture? Chemtrails have quickly moved from conspiracy theory to documented fact. So much so, that the powers-that-be have had to admit to the program, but a beneficial one in their view. Between cloud seeding and possible connections to HAARP, chemtrail fallout must be considered, especially as it is being conducted nearly worldwide. Rosalind Peterson has been at the forefront of connecting geoengineering to GMOs as a combined source for oxygen-depleting algae blooms that very well could affect a wide spectrum of natural systems. Furthermore, some believe that the delivery system for chemtrails can also disperse pathogens. If there is a flu or disease outbreak in the coming days or weeks among the human population in areas where the birds have fallen, the chemtrail connection could be made. If this happens, the contagion could be blamed on a new, deadly bird flu. A last possibility connected to chemtrails would be nanoparticles. 7 HAARP:  Birds and fish can be susceptible to subtle frequency alteration. An interesting YouTube post from a long-time fisherman mentioned the "pearl" plate behind the eye of the affected type of drum fish in this event. He made a plea for anyone in the area to look for signs of damage to this plate. Both birds and fish navigate in highly coordinated ways that indicate that they move and communicate via frequencies. Could the HAARP array in Alaska have short-circuited their navigation systems? Or, perhaps this is the beginning of a cascading effect from decades of electromagnetic pollution emanating from EMF and ELF waves shot around the planet via a wide range of modern communications. 8 Scalar Weapons:  These directed energy beam weapons can be deployed via satellite and create a wide range of "natural disasters" that can be tuned to certain frequencies. Their radius is reported to be several miles. Even crazier is that we have been told that the dead birds encountered massive trauma. One of the reported abilities of scalar weapons is to create a Tesla shield of plasma, like a bubble, that could explode anything that enters its airspace. Some have speculated that this technology is in full operation. But what if it truly is still at the testing phase? Remember, this is happening in South America, too. 9 Project Blue Beam:  Were they testing a sound generator for the global theater of alien invasion? This one is "out there" for sure, but NASA itself has announced its preparation for such a scenario. Project Blue Beam, like its counterpart HAARP, uses the natural energy present in the ionosphere as both a visual and acoustical device. Again, perhaps they are not at the ready stage yet, but, like Tesla, have made an unintentional misstep.  10 Geomagnetic and other Earth changes:  As anyone can see from the above range of possibilities, we are facing an array of human tampering. However, the backdrop to this are the anomalies beginning to take form with the apparent wandering of our magnetic pole, as even National Geographic reported that the north magnetic pole is racing toward Russia. Add to this a dwindling magnetosphere and falling oxygen levels, and the deaths among more delicate species might portend a larger problem. Finally, an increase in sun activity and magnetic storms might be weakening our overall natural habitat. The widespread die-off of nature should lead us to look more intently at the world around us, and to question our relationship to it, and our effect upon it. Perhaps this is what we should have been doing all along. Before you read them, however, bear in mind what Yahoo News has to say about the subject: "... [M]ass die-offs happen all the time and usually are unrelated ... Federal records show they happen on average every other day somewhere in North America. Usually, we don't notice them and don't try to link them to each other ...  And there have been much larger die-offs than the 3,000 blackbirds in Arkansas. Twice in the summer of 1996, more than 100,000 ducks died of botulism in Canada." Sources:   Activist Post January 6, 2011    Gizmodo January 7, 2011    Yahoo News January 6, 2011    MSNBC January 12, 2011    Dr. Mercola's Comments:   Unless you've been living beneath a rock for the past month or so, you couldn't have missed the bizarre reports of birds falling from the sky and dead fish littering shores in various parts of the world, mainly in the US, but also in Canada, Sweden, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Japan, and other areas. This interactive Google map contains 30 reports, with the earliest reports starting around the last week of December. At the time of this writing, the map had not been updated since January 5, which means there were about 30 or so reported mass die-offs worldwide within a span of about just over one week. I make this point because authorities have been quick to reassure us all that mass die offs are "normal," pointing out the fact that there are scores of mass deaths of various species each and every year. While this is true, after spending some time reviewing the data on previous mass die-offs, I can't help but scratch my head and wonder why, if this is normal, the data doesn't support their current conclusions. In fact, after looking at the US data for 2010 and 2009, I don't see how current events fit comfortably within the "normal" parameters. Personally, I believe these birds and fish are the proverbial canaries in the coal mine, and whatever is going on, whether natural or induced by man, they appear to be an indication of something or some things going awry. Are Mass Die-Offs of Animals Normal? Well, yes and no. It's easy to see how the authorities can so easily dismiss these events pointing to the fact that they've got scores of reports of similar events each and every month of the year. But not so fast. If you're going to hinge your conclusions on the data available, then look at that data and see if there are similar patterns ASIDE FROM the fact that animals "can and do die en masse" at times, which they do. I asked myself three questions, and I'll review each of them below. The first question is, how common is it for hundreds or even thousands of birds to fall from the sky and not be found to have died from either poisoning or some form of viral or bacterial infection? The answer to that is this: In the past two years that has never happened, based on the data from the USGS National Wildlife Health Center. Three thousand Purple Gallinule and American Coots died between February and April of last year—from Avian cholera. Not from some mysterious mid-air collision with nothing, causing them to plummet to their deaths. Six hundred snow geese also perished between February and March last year, due to lead poisoning. Some 200 robins, starlings and doves also died from suspected toxicosis. Mass bird starvations have also occurred, but that's clearly not what we're looking at presently. Going through the USGS' lists of each quarter for 2009 and 2010, looking for a pattern of what could be considered normal (at least in recent years), it seems quite clear that the die-offs that have occurred in the past few weeks are not quite as normal as they're trying to make them out to be… Botulism appears to be a primary culprit when it comes to mass die-offs of birds and bats, but so far, none of the current cases have been linked to either poisoning or infection. So, although mass die-offs are indeed normal, mass die-offs without a toxic, viral or bacterial cause are NOT normal. So, until or unless a toxic or infectious cause is ascertained, it seems remarkably irresponsible to dismiss these events off-hand as something that is "within the norm." And then there's the frequency of events. Why are There So Many More Reports All of a Sudden? That's the second question. Going back to that Google map, it shows a total of 15 reported events in the US within just eight days, starting with 83,000 dead fish washing up along the Arkansas River on December 29, followed by 5,000 blackbirds falling out of the sky in Beebe, Arkansas around 11.30 pm on New Year's eve, up to January 5, which is when the map was last updated. Compare that to the USGS records of previous events and you will find that for the first two quarters of 2010 (the last two quarters are not posted), there were a total of 45 reports for the first quarter (January through April), and a total of 29 reports for the second quarter (April through June). That means that during the first quarter of 2010, the USGS National Wildlife Health Center received an average of about 3.5 reports of mass die-offs per week. And during the second quarter of 2010, the average was just over 2 reports per week. The year prior, in 2009, they had a massive die-off of ducks – 1,537 of them – but again, the cause was identifiable as parasites, not flying into electrical wires or scared to death by fireworks. They also had 1,440 various birds, including geese, die in the summer of 2009 in Minnesota. But again, there was a cause: viral infections. Twenty thousand ducks died of botulism in Idaho that same summer. But still, if you average the number of total reports turned in to the USGF each quarter of 2009, the reports averaged from 1 to 4 a week. So once again, 15 mass deaths in one week is a bit out of the ordinary—in fact, the first week of January has between five to seven times more reports than the average week during the past year. Is that due to increased use of technology? Are we just noticing these events because we're more connected and news spreads faster? Many people have proposed that as the explanation, but I'm not convinced. Didn't people have access to smart phones and computers last year? Or the year before? Are Animals Dying in Greater Numbers than Normal? The third "out-of-the-proposed-norm" of animal mass-deaths is the much larger than normal number of animals dying, starting with 83,000 fish and 5,000 birds in Arkansas. Again, going through the USGS records, these are actually extraordinarily large numbers. Reported mass deaths are typically in the dozens for birds, and large fish deaths appear to be rather uncommon in general. Mass deaths of sea life now include: 2 MILLION fish in the Chesapeake Bay Between 10,000 and 20,000 gizzard shad in Lake Meredith, Texas 20 TONS of carp and red tilapia in Vietnam 100 TONS of fish (mostly sardines) in Brazil 40,000 crabs in the UK At least in the US, the records from the USGS simply do not support the explanation that fish typically die in such great numbers. Do some of these events have reasonable explanations? Yes. Toxic algae bloom was found to be the culprit in the case of Lake Meredith, and the Vietnamese event was determined to be due a combination of water pollution and overcrowded fish pens, and the crabs may indeed have succumbed to cold water stress. However, something just doesn't feel right about shrugging all of these events off as 'nothing out of the ordinary.' I certainly believe they all merit thorough and rigorous investigation. Case Solved: Birds Died from Blunt Trauma! At first I couldn't believe I was reading what I was reading. I thought, surely I must have misunderstood something. But no, it appears as though the official explanation to the Arkansas bird deaths is simply this: they died from blunt-force trauma. Tests for poisoning were negative. Case closed. The official stance is that this year's fireworks sent the birds into a never-before-heard-of panic, causing them to fly into cars, homes, and possibly straight into the ground. What this explanation ignores, however, is the fact that people started reporting the birds littering the streets around 11.30 pm, and on New Year's Eve fireworks typically do not begin until the strike of midnight. It also ignores the fact that this does not appear to have happened before, even though the US celebrates both New Year's and Independence Day with massive fireworks displays across the nation every year. Perhaps an even more bizarre explanation is that of the Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana event, where about 500 red-winged blackbirds and starlings are thought to have suddenly been unable to navigate around a power line due to high winds... Personally, I believe the odds of 500 birds colliding with a power line are fairly slim. Likewise, it seems dubious that one trucker would cause the death of nearly 100 birds in Falkoping, Sweden. Testing has yet to identify any toxic or infectious causes to any of these bird deaths. I certainly understand our officials' needs to quench the fear that these events are in any way related. It could cause a panic. But quite frankly, the explanations offered are equally panic-inducing, simply because they do not appear to be based on any genuine understanding or scientific investigation. Most Recent Events It will be interesting to see what the explanations will be for some of the latest events, such as the January 14 mass death of fish reported in the Iranian sector of the Caspian Sea. According to the Iranian Gulistan Province's Nature Conservation Department Deputy Head Mohsen Jafarnejad, analysis of the dead fish is underway. The article also states that, "Scientists suggest that the causes of the recent events may be a global disaster or testing of biological weapons." Some 80 pigeons also died at a farm near Quebec City in Canada, the Toronto Sun reported on January 7. The landowner claims that wildlife officials told him not to speak to the media—a piece of advice he promptly ignored. "There's something going on," the landowner is quoted as saying. "This is not normal." One of the few cases that seem to have a plausible cause of death is the case of 200 dead cows found in a field in the Town of Stockton on January 15. According to the NY Daily News, the owner suspects the cows may have succumbed to IBR/BVD, an acute, contagious cattle virus. An investigation is currently underway. Again, I want to emphasize that I do not claim to have any of the answers, but I believe that in order to get to the answers we need to ask the right questions, and based on the questions I asked myself while writing this piece, the conventional answers are insufficient. It's interesting to note that birds are quite vulnerable to chemical pollution and poisoning from natural toxins. If these animals are indeed the canaries, then we need to investigate these events properly and thoroughly, and not pretend it's all business as usual. I believe the data suggests these events are not as normal as they would like us all to believe, and all of these events certainly warrant further investigation.
