Mayan Ruins in Georgia?

Thanks to Will Blueotter, White Roots of Peace Council NAC for this.

This would be further verification of what Cherokee traditional elders have been saying...
that we lived alongside them.

See http://cherokeediscovery.com/history.html

“When the one Creator of all things,
U-nay-kla-nah-hi, made the first Cherokees,
the stars began to twinkle with approval;
thus it is our responsibility to live up to these heavenly expectations.”
Chief Jahtlohi Rogers

When you learn that Cherokee history is a multi-colored rope,
woven by our ancestors from the beginning of time. Their weaving was strong and good enough to get us here, but not without many, many of the strands breaking. Then during thunderstorms, you will be able to hear the old ones chant “Be warned, Cherokee! Weave stronger, Cherokee! Be warned”
Chief Jahtlohi Rogers

The textbooks will tell you that the Mayan people thrived in Central America from about 250 to 900 A.D., building magnificent temples in Guatemala, Honduras, Belize and southern Mexico.

Mayan Ruins in Georgia? Archeologist Objects (ABC News)

But could they possibly have left stone ruins in the mountains of North Georgia? Richard Thornton thinks so. He says he's an architect by training, but has been researching the history of native people in and around Georgia for years. On Examiner.com, he wrote about an 1,100-year-old archeological site near Georgia's highest mountain, Brasstown Bald, that he said "is possibly the site of the fabled city of Yupaha, which Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto failed to find in 1540."

Theory: The Mayans could have left Central America and ended up in the North Georgian mountains

This might all be fairly arcane stuff, except that an archeologist he cited, Mark Williams of the University of Georgia, took exception. In the comments section after Thornton's piece, he wrote, "I am the archaeologist Mark Williams mentioned in this article. This is total and complete bunk. There is no evidence of Maya in Georgia. Move along now."

Immediately the story exploded. In comments on Examiner, as well as on Facebook and in emails, users piled on. One woman called Williams "completely pompous and arrogant." A man wrote he was "completely disrespectful to the Public at large." Another said he would urge the state of Georgia to cut off funding for Williams' academic department at the university.

All of this left Thornton, who writes often about the Maya for Examiner.com, "dumbfounded."

"I actually was giving Williams a plug," he said in an interview with ABC News. "I've got a regular readership, but this thing just went viral."

Thornton, who said he is Georgia Creek Indian by birth, volunteered that doing research about Mesoamerican culture in the U.S. has been a difficult way to make a living. For nine months before the Examiner hired him, he said he was so poor he had to live out of a tent. He said he now makes money by writing online and lecturing.
Some of his conclusions about the Mayan connection to the southern U.S., he said, are based on oral history. There are place names in Georgia and North Carolina, he said, that are very similar to Mayan words. And the ruins near Brasstown Bald, he said, include mounds and irrigation terraces similar to those found at Mayan settlements in Central America.

Williams, the doubting archeologist, had many online defenders. "While there are many, many compelling parallels between Central American and North American indigenous mythologies," wrote one, "that does not mean there was direct evidence that the post-Classic Period Collapse Maya emigrated all the way to Georgia."
Williams stood his ground against Thornton's suggestion that Brasstown Bald has any Mayan roots. "The sites are certainly those of Native Americans of prehistoric Georgia," he wrote in an email. "Wild theories are not new, but the web simply spreads them faster than ever."

Cherokees come in many colors and we feel that this is one of our strengths which allows us to understand and respect all humans as brothers.
Wado (Thank you.)

“Spotted Owl fell asleep under a dancing star.
this was the night he learned to dream.
His soul became a strong white bird,
his mind a snapping terrapin,
his body as strong as a bear,
his medicine important and peaceful”
Marijo Moore - Cherokee

The Mayans have been under intense scrutiny over the past few years as rumours abound about their mysterious 5,125-year calendar allegedly predicting the apocalypse on December 21 2012.
But various experts have spoken out over the last month, including Mexico's 'Grand Warlock' Antonio Vazquez, to say that the Mayan calendar instead will just reset and a new time-span will begin.

Mayan Elders Opposing Prophecies

In 2009 Mayan Elders spoke out in opposition to the alleged Mayan Calendar Prophecies, saying interpretations have nothing to do with the end of time. Mainstream Mayanist scholars argue that the idea that the Long Count calendar "ends" in 2012 misrepresents Maya history. To the modern Maya, 2012 is largely irrelevant, and classic Maya sources on the subject are scarce and contradictory, suggesting that there was little if any universal agreement among them about what, if anything, the date might mean. Not all Mayan Elders would agree. Many adhere to the theory of a spiritual transformation taking place, culminating on December 21, 2012.
Some Maya are getting sick of 2012 hype   MSNBC - October 10, 2009

Guatemalan Mayan Indian elder Apolinario Chile Pixtun says archaeologists, astronomers and modern-day Mayas shrug off the popular frenzy over the date of 2012, predicting it will bring nothing more than a meteor shower of new-age 'consciousness,' pseudo-science and alarmist television specials. Chile Pixtun, a Guatemalan, says the doomsday theories spring from Western, not Mayan, ideas. A significant time period for the Maya does end on the date, and enthusiasts have found a series of astronomical alignments they say coincide in 2012, including one that happens roughly only once every 25,800 years. It may sound all too much like other doomsday scenarios of recent decades - the 1987 Harmonic Convergence, the Jupiter Effect or "Planet X." But this one has some grains of archaeological truth. One of them isMonument Six. Found at an obscure ruin in southern Mexico during highway construction in the 1960s, the stone tablet almost didn't survive; the site was largely paved over, and parts of the tablet were looted. It's unique in that the remaining parts contain the equivalent of the date 2012. The inscription describes something that is supposed to occur in 2012 involving Bolon Yokte, a mysterious Mayan god associated with both war and creation. However - shades of Indiana Jones - erosion and a crack in the stone make the end of the passage almost illegible. Archaeologist Guillermo Bernal of Mexico's National Autonomous University interprets the last eroded glyphs as maybe saying, "He will descend from the sky." The Maya civilization, which reached its height from the year 300 to 900, had a talent for astronomy. Its Long Count calendar begins in 3114 B.C., marking time in roughly 394-year periods known as Baktuns. Thirteen was a significant, sacred number for the Maya, and the 13th Baktun ends around Dec. 21, 2012.

In 2009, the media embraced the Mayan Calendar date as many people brought forth their theories in books, documentaries, films, TV specials, the Internet, YouTube, art, and more. This will continue through December 22, 2012. Many became more fearful, while others embraced spiritual changes. This has been a year of great changes on the planet with natural disasters accelerating exponentially and a shift of consciousness being felt by most people who wonder where it will all go. Some are becoming more fearful, while others are allowing events to play out as guided.

The Dresden Codex
In recent years scholars have discovered the amazing advances the ancient Maya made in astronomy and mathematics, their calendars remarkably accurate. As an indigenous society, it is unknown how they discovered celestial alignments incorporating them into their pyramids, calendars, and encoding them on the inner bark of certain trees, and on stone, to be found by future generations. This research continues though most of the ancient Maya Codices were destroyed. The Dresden codex is generally considered the most important of the few Maya Codices to survive.
In 2009, the History Channel presented "Decoding the Past" which mentioned the last page of the Dresden Codex. 'Flood waters', or flood stories take us to metaphoric creation myths, the flow of the Collective Unconsciousness, and reality as consciousness. The dragon, or serpent, represents human DNA. Sun and Moon reference balance of male and female, yin and yang, right and eft brain, reality stemming from consciousness. 'Black on High' is the return to consciousness out of physical reality, (fade to black) at the end of time.

"The last page of the Dresden Codex shows the destruction of the world via water. Waves gush from the mouth of a celestial dragon. More flood waters pour from sun and moon symbols on the underside of the monster's body. An aged goddess also pours flood water onto the Earth. At the bottom of the picture crouches a ruler of the underworld. Above the picture, about half of the 15 glyphs have been destroyed, but a few of the remaining ones consistently refer to "Black Earth" or "Black on High"."

ALERT: Native American, Mayan Warnings for August, 2011

It cannot be denied that there has been an increase in earthquakes, volcanic activity, fish kills, sink holes, bizarre weather, climate change recently.

Deep Impact" Comet Elenin Turning into Reality

Solar flares, solar storms, solar x-ray flux and geomagnetic intensities have been prominent in the last few weeks.

Speculation abounds about the curiously named Leonid Elenin's Comet Elenin heading near the vicinity of earth.  Pole Shift, Magnetic shifts, the Dwarf star, Niburu, Planet X, entering into the comet's debris field are foremost in our concerns these days.

(See: Deep Impact" movie  of Comet Elenin Turning into Reality)

The Mayan calendar, precession of the equinoxes, ancient Egyptian and Indian Vedic records indicate a converging of three cycles, soon.  Some say around 2012, but of course signs such as solar flares, earthquakes, climate changes, bizarre weather are starting in advance of 2012.

According to Mitch Battros Earth Change Media's, comment regarding the Mayan Elders' warnings, we should be experiencing some drastic happenings in the 'last 10 days of August".  Red Elk, a Native American seer also has been having visions and dreams for many years about earth changes, and concurs with the Mayan Elders' warnings.

 "WATCH THE WATER"
Hummm. tecnicle to me, but at least understandabel.  Can NOT say TIME ACCRICY....but CAN that these things WILL be.
HUGE CHANGES as the 4 hoorsemen ride about.  MANY hapenings.  TERRIFYING ONES at times.

WELL above the norm.   Sigh

As for "Watch the water"...YES, DO SO!  MORE involved then this man tells OR KNOWS.

ODD....even SCARY, Changes.  Just Plain FRIGHTENING!
Exspect mass FISH deaths.   HUGE amounts.
Water  that BOILS!  SULPHER n HEAT dissrupting long standing GOOD FISHING areas.
This, in turn, will put MANY Comm. Boats AND PROCCESING PLANTS into CLOSED DOWN mode.
Much drop in Salmon TOO.  Dead b4 they can get to thier breeding areas inland.
Heck, it will be hard to CATCH even a PERCH in time!
So; FOOD "dissapiering"....and NOT JUST TO MAN!
ALL animals connected to the seas will be "in need" too.  DIEING due to its lack.

Hibranation deaths (others other then bears hybranate)...so, many WINTER KILLED (not enough fat builup)
In short, STARVATION WILL CAUSE MANY HYBRANATORS TO COME OUT OF HYBRANATION, to EAT!

But eat WHERE?  ALL under the snow.  Grubs etc. deep in it within bark.  BEARS CANT GET ENOUGH...SO ; "GO to MAN".  Starved bears (AND mice / etc.) HEADING TO HOMES to locate n raid.
SHOT DEAD to protect home livers.

Sis, MAN HAS NO IDIA HOW CLOSE MANKIND IS TO    EXSTINCTION     we are.

DUE TO OUR 'LEAVEING"   G  O  D !

Yes, MUCH to consiter in "Watch The Water".

Short Stories: Tellings Of A Medicine Man/Wakhan  (Paperback - Feb 24, 2011)

Quotes from Mitch Battros' Earth Changes Media

Mitch Battros - Earth Changes Media:  Mitch Studio

I have received further notice from Mayan elders saying it will be the last ten days of August which will reflect the prophetic predictions from ancient text. I believe all earth changing events will be ushered in by an escalation is solar activity.
Even as of this writing, we are still under the influence of August 5ththru 9th solar activity but to a lesser degree. This was due to a 'compounding' effect of solar flares, cmes, and coronal holes converging to form a continuous stream of high speed solar winds.

Elders tell us to "watch the water". National Hurricane Center now predicts "unusually active season". NOAA issued its updated 2011 Atlantic hurricane season outlook raising the number of expected named storms from its pre-season outlook issued in May. Based on new atmospheric and ocean conditions, the confidence for an above-normal season has increased from 65 percent in May to 85 percent. Full Article - http://bit.ly/nvgwws

I have received notice stating Mayan elders wish to contact me regarding events they believe to be coming in August. I believe the subject to be of earth changing events and geo-political fallout.

As related to geo-political, I can't help but think these issues would encompass the United States monetary position in the world's economy. There have also been predictions of a single strike nuclear exchange between Pakistan and India. It would appear this event has become more tangible than ever before.

The reason Precession occurs is that the Earth not only rotates on its axis … otherwise known as the Axis Munde or World Pillar … it also wobbles. This wobble effect is a phenomenon caused by forces exerted by the Sun on the bulges of the Earth at the Equator.
