It marks the fourth serious earthquake across the globe in the last 24 hours.
Mexico was devastated by a 7.1 magnitude on Tuesday, killing at least 223 people and leaving hundreds more trapped underneath collapsed buildings.
Two powerful earthquakes struck New Zealand on Wednesday, while Japan had scares of a national disaster after a quake hit off the coast east of Fukushima early on Thursday morning.
An earthquake rocked Mexico Tuesday afternoon, just 12 days after the country suffered the strongest earthquake in a century, the Associated Press reports. Tuesday’s quake registered as a magnitude 7.1 and struck about 70 miles southeast of Mexico’s capital, according to an independent earthquake monitoring organization.
Mexico is still recovering after it was hit by a 8.1 magnitude earthquake earlier in the month. The disaster was felt by tens of millions and leveled thousands of buildings, The New York Times reported.
“It was brutal, brutal. It was like a monster, like a train was passing over our roofs,” one resident told Reuters at the time.
There were reports of buildings swaying in the tremor in the capital Santiago, about 115km east of the coast. -Yahoo
Chile has long been known to have many earthquakes. Seems that the number and intensity of earthquakes all around the 'Ring of Fire' are increasing lately. When I visited Vina del Mar in Chile quite a few years ago, there were many evidences of an on-going history of earthquakes. Cracks in fireplaces, walls, skewed windows. Chileans were almost used to it. However, with the increase in number and intensity, there's a new paradigm. There is something causing these increases and changes all over the globe such as floods, volcanic activity, population unrest, frayed nerves, wars and rumors of wars, Greenland and Antarctica's ice sheets are cracking. What's going on?

A 7.1 quake is considered major and can cause heavy damage, however, the effects of this one were mitigated because it was offshore.

- USGS Is reporting a strong and shallow 7.1 Earthquake that has struck just off the coast of Chile. I will continue to update on this via twitter and you can find more info at the link below.
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.3 hit northern Japan on Tuesday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said, generating a tsunami that hit the nation's northern Pacific coast.
The U.S. Geological Survey initially put Tuesday's quake at a magnitude of 7.3 but down graded it to 6.9.
The earthquake, which was felt in Tokyo, was centered off the coast of Fukushima prefecture at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles) and struck at 5:59 a.m. (2059 GMT) the agency said.
USGS said that it was a shallow quake, at about 10 kilometers, which tended to cause more shaking damage and had greater potential to cause a tsunami.
"The good news here is that the direction the fault was moving is a slight lateral slip. When the faults move laterally they do not create the vertical movement associated with large tsunamis," the U.S. agency said.
A 60 cm (2 foot) tsunami had been observed at Fukushima's Onahama Port and a 90 cm (3 foot) tsunami at Soma soon after, public broadcaster NHK said. The region is the same that was devastated by a tsunami following a massive earthquake in 2011. A tsunami warning of up to 3 meters (10 feet) has been issued.
Japan's chief government spokesman Yoshihide Suga said that a government taskforce had been established to deal with the quake and tsunami, and called on people in affected areas to evacuate, according to media outlet NHK.
NHK also reported that water could be seen moving bath and forth in Onahama Port and that tide levels were rising in some areas on Japan's eastern coast. Television footage showed ships moving out to sea from Fukushima harbors as tsunami warning signals wailed.
A very rare M3.7 earthquake has struck off the East coast / Eastern coast of Florida between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach.
This earthquake falls near the methane hydrate deposit locations in the Bermuda Triangle, and also about 5km BELOW the spot where several NASA booster rockets fell in the past.
This earthquake 3D live stream normally shows the past 48 hours of USGS reported M2.5 and greater earthquakes in the United States and Territories. Additionally showing M4.0 and greater activity internationally.

Most unusual!
The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 3.7 earthquake struck at about 4 p.m. Saturday. There are no reports of damage or that it was felt on land.
Earthquakes in Florida are rare and those that cause damage are almost nonexistent. According to the USGS, two earthquakes that struck 10 minutes apart in January 1879 knocked plaster from walls in St. Augustine and were felt as far away as Tampa on the Gulf coast.

Have you noticed that our planet has begun to shake, rattle and roll? Over the past few days we have seen major volcanic eruptions in Costa Rica and Indonesia, and according to Volcano Discovery 40 volcanoes around the planet are erupting right now as you read this article. Meanwhile, earthquakes continue to shake the globe with alarming regularity. Just last week, Ecuador was hit by a magnitude 6.7 earthquake anda magnitude 6.8 earthquake in rapid succession. Overall, there have been more than 3,000 earthquakes of magnitude 1.5 or greater within the past month globally. So yes, I write constantly about the rapidly accelerating deterioration of our financial system, but the coming “collapse” is not just about money. I am convinced that we are entering a “perfect storm” in which a confluence of factors will absolutely cripple society and bring about changes that most of us would not even dare to imagine right now.
Planet earth is experiencing an uptick in earthquakes and volcano activity. What I find interesting is when Jesus is asked by his disciples what will be the sign of the end of the age,. One of the items on Jesus’ punch list is this: There will be earthquakes in diverse places.
What astonishes me about this statement is that almost 2000 years ago there was absolutely no way to know about an earthquake happening in Japan if you lived in Jerusalem. You wouldn’t know about it…period.
If we fast forward to today because of the vast array of telecommunications that have created a network that encircles our globe, information is at the speed of light.
A good example of this would the Fukushima disaster, when, after an earthquake measuring 9.0 on the richter scale people around the world watched the tsunami devastate the mainland as a 70 foot wall of water destroyed everything in its path as well as taking upward of 20,000 lives.
We watched the event on our TV’s or computers in real time as the satellite network that connects us all, relayed the images around the globe.
Here’s a fact that I find interesting. Oklahoma may be the earthquake capital of the world as last year it led the total number of earthquakes at over 700. If we go back a few years ago the average temblor in that state was 2 to 3 per year.
Surely we can agree that there has been an uptick in the both the frequency and severity of earthquakes.
What is interesting is the number of larger earthquakes happening in the last ten years. In other words there have been temblors over 8.0 in magnitude and these are extremely devastating and cause both loss of life and property.
When the Fukushima earthquake happened over 5 years ago, a massive tsunami flooded the Fukushima prefecture but it also crippled the Fukushima Diachi nuclear power plant. Now it was recently revealed that no one knows where the fuel-rods that were in the reactor are. In other words they have burned through the containment shell and, for all practice purposes headed to the center of the earth. Will they contaminate the Pacific Ocean? Only time will time.
Then we have the real threat of volcano’s and more specifically a super volcano erupting. We saw what I would consider a small eruption several years ago when the Eifjokyll volcano in Iceland erupted and spewed a cloud of ash into the sky which closed all air travel over Northern Europe and England for about two weeks, resulting in a loss of millions of dollars in Airfares.
In this Watchers segment from Watchers 9 - Days of Chaos, we sat down with Alvin Conway who has a blog entitled The Extinction Protocol. Alvin is a born again Christian and he has been tracking what we would call the Birth Pangs for years.
Let’s take a moment and see what Alvin tells us about earthquakes and the burgeoning volcanic activity.
Michael Snyder, Economic Collapse Blog, continues:
Let’s talk about the volcanic eruptions that we have seen in recent days. The eruption down in Costa Rica took authorities completely by surprise, and a thick layer of dust and ash is coating vehicles and buildings 30 miles away in the capital city of San Jose…
A volcano has erupted in central Costa Rica, belching smoke and ash up to 3,000m (9,840ft) into the air.
Meanwhile, there is “unprecedented” activity at Iceland’s very dangerous Baroabunga volcano. This one is not erupting quite yet, but we definitely want to keep an eye on it, because a major eruption there would have serious implications for Europe.
To finish this article, I would like to provide an update to a piece that I posted last week on End of the American Dream. Just prior to the eruption of the Turrialba volcano in Costa Rica, there were significant earthquake swarms in the vicinity of the volcano. Well, the exact same thing is happening at three major volcanoes in the United States right now.
I would like to share three images with you that come from Google Earth via the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network. This first image shows the earthquake activity that has taken place in the area around Mt. St. Helens in recent days. Over the past month there have been 95 earthquakes in the region, and most of them have been centered right along the core of the volcano…
This next image shows what has been happening at Mt. Rainier. Those that follow my work closely already know that I consider it to be the most dangerous mountain in America and that I believe that a major eruption of the volcano is coming in the not too distant future. There have been 36 earthquakes at Mt. Rainier over the past month, and once again most of them have occurred right along the core of the volcano…
Mt. Hood is also a very dangerous volcano. There have been 126 earthquakes in the vicinity of Mt. Hood in recent days, and in this image you can see that the earthquakes have been centered very tightly on a spot on the south face of the mountain. This is alarming because it was also the south side of Mt. St. Helens that violently erupted back in 1980…
When there are major volcanic eruptions or major earthquakes in other parts of the globe, many Americans don’t seem to care too much because they don’t think that this rise in global seismic activity is any sort of a threat to them personally.
But the truth is that the entire west coast of the United States lies along the Ring of Fire, and virtually every other section of the Ring of Fire is roaring to life these days.
At some point, there will be historic earthquakes on the west coast.
At some point, there will be historic volcanic eruptions on the west coast.
Scientists assure us that these things are inevitable.
So let us certainly hope for the best, but putting our heads in the sand and pretending that these dangers do not exist is not going to help matters one bit.

Intense glow from Etna's Voragine where lava fountaining seems to have started
Activity at the Voragine has been steadily increasing during the evening and night so far - strombolian activity is probably now turning into lava fountaining: the 3rd paroxysm of the summit crater within less than 3 days - is about to occur.
Current tremor signal (ESLN station / INGV Catania)
After a relatively calm day, Etna seems perhaps about to start another eruptive episode from the Voragine summit crater where strombolian activity has set in a short while ago. Tremor is currently elevated, but with no clear trend so far. ...more

Strombolian activity at the NE crater this evening
Etna (Sicily, Italy): Yet another paroxysm could be under way from the summit craters: after a calm day, strong strombolian eruptions have started a few hours ago from the NE crater. Along with the volcanic tremor signal which is rising again, the activity has been gradually increasing. This might be the beginning of another paroxysm (if strombolian activity from the NE vent is a precursor of more violent activity of the Voragine or even the NE crater - the near future will tell...) You can follow the activity live at various webcams.
Sinabung (Sumatra, Indonesia): A series of pyroclastic flows occurred yesterday afternoon - sadly, at least one of them was was much larger than most others during the past months and claimed at least 3 victims from local farmers who were working on their fields within the exclusion zone, approx. 4 km from the volcano. ...
