This article calls this a 'breakthrough' ... that is, being able to make ordinary skin cells into stem cells.
This is no new thing! Scientists have been able to do this with bone marrow cells, fat cells, and yes, even skin cells for a while now. The research and procedures need to be furthered in this direction. "They" just want an excuse to clone human embryos. The truth is that making stem cells from one's own body cells (rather than an embryo) would totally avoid the problems of rejection of foreign matter. If someday you can have a heart repaired from your own stem cells, then you would not need a heart transplant and the problems of having to take immune-destroying drugs the rest of your now shortened life.
