Port Moresby. A magnitude six-point-two quake struck off the coast of Papua New Guinea, the US Geological Survey announced. Strong Earthquake Strikes Tonga Nuku'alofa. An earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale struck Tonga, the US Geological Survey announced. The earthquake was centered about 145 km from Tonga's capital Nuku'alofa. Probe Films Underwater Volcanic Eruption An unmanned probe got within feet of a violent underwater eruption in the Pacific Ocean, returning with the clearest footage ever captured of seismic activity under the sea, a team of Japanese and U.S. researchers said.
