Cage fighter 'rips out still-beating heart of training partner after fearing he was possessed by the devil'

Arrested: Jarrod Wyatt was allegedly found standing naked over his dead friend's body in a room bathed in blood

A U.S. cage fighter ripped out the heart of his training partner while he was still alive after becoming convinced he was possessed by the devil, it was alleged today.

Jarrod Wyatt also cut out Taylor Powell's tongue and ripped off most of his face in a brutal assault that police said looked like a scene from a horror film, officers said.

They claim they found the 26-year-old standing naked over his friend's body with parts, including an eyeball, strewn around the blood splattered room in Klamath, California.

Wyatt allegedly told police he had drunk a cup of tea spiked with hallucinogenic mushrooms and became convinced Powell was possessed.

According to an autopsy Powell, 21, bled to death after his heart was ripped out.

The coroner said Powell had been alive when the organ was ripped out after his chest had been sliced open with a knife.

Wyatt told the police he thrown the heart into a fire along with other organs that he had removed from the body, it was claimed.

He allegedly told investigators he cooked the body parts because he was fearful Powell was still alive and he ‘needed to stop the Devil’.

Police had been called to the grisly scene after a third friend had witnessed a sudden mood change in Wyatt after they had all ingested wild mushroom tea.

Justin Davis told police he returned to the flat to find Wyatt naked and covered from head to toe in blood.

He noticed an eyeball lying in the middle of the floor and saw Powell's mutilated body.

A lawyer representing Wyatt has claimed the wild mushrooms caused him to act in such a violent way and had no control over his actions.

‘My client was trying to silence the devil,’ said James Fallman.

‘I think he was having a psychotic fit based on the mushrooms he had.’ 

Wyatt has been charged with first degree murder and torture.

Prosecutors added the torture charge as Powell was still alive when his heart was removed.

The naked man who viciously attacked another man — at one point trying to eat off the other man’s face — before he was shot dead by police was identified Monday.

Police sources said Monday the attacker was 31-year-old Rudy Eugene. His name was first reported by WPLG ABC 10.

The name of the man Eugene seriously hurt remained a mystery. On Monday, the man was still at Jackson Memorial Hospital, in critical condition.

“We’re hoping that he pulls through, for his well-being, but also so he can tell us what happened,” said Sgt. Javier Ortiz, vice president of the Miami police union. “Only he knows.”

The grisly scene unfolded Saturday about 2 p.m. on the MacArthur Causeway, near the off-ramp to Biscayne Boulevard. A Road Ranger spotted the men and shouted on his loudspeaker for the attacker to back away. Meanwhile, a woman also saw what was happening flagged down an officer.

One witness, Larry Vega, told WSVN-Fox 7 he was riding his bicycle on the MacArthur when he saw a man tearing off pieces of the victim’s flesh with his mouth.

Vega said he found a police officer, who approached and told the attacker to get off the man. But the attacker kept chewing, Vega said, even after the officer shot once at him.

The officer fired again, hitting him several more times, eventually killing him.

The name of the officer who fired the fatal shots also was not released.

Security video from the adjacent Miami Herald building captured snippets of the violence as the two men — one dead, the other gravely injured — lay on the sidewalk as scores of officers arrived.

On Monday, police said they still needed witnesses to come forward about what they saw.

“We know that there were many people on the MacArthur Causeway,” police spokesman Detective William Moreno said, “and we’re hoping they come forward.”

"Zombies" have nothing to do with it. There's a gay liberation celebration going on in South Beach this weekend and this causeway is on the way to South Beach- they act crazy in these 'celebrations'. I used to work in the building across the street from the Miami Herald, still live in the Miami area, but stay away from South Beach- it's ruined for families these days. These guys probably fell into a cocaine induced psychosis on the way to the 'party'- at least the chewer did for sure, and one got waylaid on the causeway and may not live. Fatal attractions.




The injured party, the one being moved in the video, is in the hospital now in critical condition. 
If you look closely, you can see some blood.


They shot him  - and he kept on eating! Had to shoot him again, to make him quit ASAP! Cocaine induced psychosis, cause a person's internal organs to become overheated and they rip off their clothes to cool off...but of course, they are completely gone.  The psychotic guy kept on eating and ignored the cops shouts to stop.  A passersby on the causeway saw this first and called the police.  She'll have nightmares!
