Brazil surpasses United States as country allowing greatest upward mobility

Not so long ago there was a widespread belief that the United States was the world’s best destination for achieving upward mobility–an aspiration that became known as “the American dream.”

For most of the 19th and 20th centuries this really seems to be true.

But no longer.

Today, the world’s most valuable passport on the black market is not the US, but the Brazilian.

Not only has Brazil been growing at an average rate of 5% while the US economy flat lines, but Brazil seems to have much more scope for growth in the future. Brazil is the world’s largest tropical country, with an incredible bounty of untapped resources. For one thing, in a parched world, Brazil is the new superpower of water. The Economist magazine put it this way, “according to the UN’s 2009 World Water Assessment, Brazil has more than 8000 billion cubic kilometers of renewable water each year, easily more than any other country.” For reference, there are 264 billion gallons in a cubic kilometer. So 8000 billion (or 8 trillion) cubic kilometers is a lot of water.

Thirty five years ago, Brazil was importing food. Today, it is the world’s largest exporter of 5 major crops, as well as of beef and chicken. Brazilian scientists have engineered new, short-cycle tropical versions of temperate crops like soybeans and corn. These mature 8 to 12 weeks faster than the original temperate versions, making it possible for Brazilian farmers to produce two crops a year rather than one as in the United States.

By 2002, the overall average yield for soybeans in Brazil (2.6 tons/hectare) surpassed the average yield in the United States (2.4 tons/hectare). More significantly, the cost of producing soybeans in Brazil fell to about $6 23 per 60 kg bag, just 50% of the US level of $11 72.

While no one apart from a few professional investors was watching, Brazil has quietly surpassed the United States as the world’s leading venue for upward mobility. With a population just two-thirds the size of the US, Brazil has created over 15 million jobs over the past 8 years while the US lost millions of jobs. Combining energy independence and vast natural resources, including 60% of the world’s unused arable land and 25% of its freshwater, Brazil is the world’s first tropical superpower, offering a whole new frontier of growth.

Their biggest employer just moved out. 



General Electric is planning to move its 115-year-old X-ray division from Waukesha,Wis., to Beijing, CHINA, and will invest $2 billion in China and train more than 65 engineers AND build six research centers.





This is the same GE that made $5.1 billion in the U.S. last year, but paid no taxes - the same company that employs more people overseas than it does in the United States.

So let 's get this straight. Pres O appoints GE Chairman Jeff Immelt to head his commission on job creation (job czar) and one the biggest things GE Chairman/jobs czar does is move his company on OUR DIME to CHINA. Guess he forgot that those new jobs should have been AMERICAN jobs. Thanks Jeff, you're a "real" patriot....

Here is more evidence of the suicide mission this country is on: General Electric announced it's moving its 115-year-old X-ray business from Waukesha, Wisconsin to Beijing, China.

The X-ray business is part of General Electric's GE Healthcare unit, and this move is just part of a broader plan by GE to invest $2 billion in China.

This will become the first GE business to be headquartered there. A handful of the unit's top executives will be transferred to China but otherwise, the company says, none of the 150 staffers in the Milwaukee-area facility will lose jobs or be transferred. However, GE plans to hire more than 65 engineers and a support staff at a new facility in China.

It's the kind of news that makes you want to reach for something sharp and jab it in your eye. General Electric's Chief Executive, Jeffrey Immelt, is one of President Obama's advisers on… ready? U.S. job creation!

In January, President Obama asked Immelt, a self-described Republican, to head up the President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. Tapping Immelt was supposed to provide the Obama administration with a business world perspective on job creation - not in China - here.

The administration also hoped it would give the president a leg up negotiating with the Republican-controlled House on deficit reduction, jobs programs, and health care. And we can all see how that's worked out really well.

Two months after Immelt was named to the council, The New York Times reported that General Electric paid no income taxes last year... thanks to some fancy accounting footwork, even though the company earned $14.2 billion in profits last year - more than $5 billion in the U.S. alone.

Here’s my question to you: General Electric is moving its X-ray business to China. What message does this send Americans?

It says we can give big corporate perks to companies who ship jobs overseas. The GE situation is a perfect example. How do you expect President Obama to create jobs if the corporate big wigs are "unemploying" our people? We should take the company tax breaks and perks away until they bring back the jobs from overseas.

Wait. Isn't the CEO of GE supposed to be Obama's top jobs guy? First they paid no income tax and now this? It's official. No one in power cares about getting people back to work. All they care about is keeping their profits, their offices, and the status quo. The real question is how long will it take the rest of America to realize this and do something about it?

The company reported worldwide profits of $14.2 billion, and said $5.1 billion of the total came from its operations in the United States.

Its American tax bill? None. In fact, G.E. claimed a tax benefit of $3.2 billion.

Celente: Chaos in 2012

If you’ve followed trend forecaster Gerald Celente for any period of time you’ve probably realized he knows what he’s talking about. For the better part of two decades Celente and his Trends Journal have been forecasting political, financial, economic and social trends with an uncanny ability for accuracy.

In his latest interview Celente discusses a variety of different topics – from Iran and Europe to domestic militarization and the economy – and warns that our worst fears will soon be realized.

Bottom line? You ain’t seen nothin’ yet:

Gerald Celente on Jeff Rense Radio:
This passed (National Defense Authorization Act) the Senate by 93-7. I’m mentioning this because all the pieces are in place now.
The economy is going to crash. There is going to be chaos. Economic martial law will be called. Banks will close. And, chaos will ensure.
The law is now in place for the military to come in and take over. Fascism has come to America.

And if anyone thinks that I’m over blowing this, you may recall, for those of you who have been listening to Jeff Rense for the years that I’ve been on, that when Obama got elected I said there was a high probability, in 2009, of a bank holiday because of the disastrous economic conditions.


In an interview with Lew Rockwell on November 30, Celente provided a timeline for events, suggesting that things may start heating up as soon as the first quarter of 2012.
