Some parts of these books sound beautiful..
But I did have issues when I got beyond the first few pages.. I am grateful that I had two loving parents and a church in my childhood. Children need moral standards. In fact, we all do. We innately need to know what is good and what is bad.
God in these "Conversations.." books supposedly says, '..no right and wrong... ' and then proceeds to contradict Himself by immediately saying, '...this is wrong..' And then God supposedly says, '..who are you sinning against?' ... Well, it is very obvious that the God of these books doesn't know how demandingly difficult, financially, physically and spiritually damaging and painful it is for children to be raised with questionable and/or absent parents... and how emotionally demeaning it is to the parents' mental self-esteem, and their extended families. Why encourage it? It's hard enough to raise children rightfully in the first place.
And God loves lesbians, of course! But, life and being accepted by society is more difficult for them emotionally, judging from those of them that I'm acquainted with. Or else why would they be so desperate to be accepted by the mainstrem? I love them and they are friends, but I don't envy them and would not wish this difficulty on my children. "Celebrate your differences.." ?? Give me a break! A situation of poverty and malnourishment such as in third world countries is 'different' from the middle class life we lead in the West, for instance -- it doesn't make it 'better'. Just being 'different' is no an improvement. We should note the differences, not hate the 'lesbians' and the poor starving children - and show our love by feeding and educating them both spiritually and physically - don't just ignore them and tell them to 'celebrate their differences'. Tolerance is not love. Duhhh! That just makes a bad situation worse, and avoids our responsibility to 'love thy neighbor'. Did Jesus say to the lepers, "Celebrate your differences" ?? He did not turn them away but healed them.
'Sinning', meaning 'missing the mark' is definitely against the family here. God loves all unconditionally, no matter what they've done and are doing, and whatever family circumstances they are in, there's always hope - unfortunately that's not the emphasis in these "Conversations.." books. A loving God would encourage His children to choose to live in circumstances if possible, that would engender less difficulty in raising children and spreading family love and respect - out of love for the children and family. Seems like this POLITICALLY CORRECT God in these books is trying to make it look beautiful and lovely to be choosing to live in difficult and damaging circumstances. This is NOT BENEFICIAL IN REAL LIFE! It's just asking for trouble! And the trickster, the adversary, who may 'look' beautiful is chortling with glee with the fashionable, politically correct acceptance of these attractively skewed instructions.
Yes, indeed, Be Aware!

BEWARE OF THIS BOOK!!!!!
If you have children or grand-children or you have neighbor children whose parents you know, please take note of the info below or pass it along to others. Schools are a distribution point to children for this book through the Scholastic Book Club. Beware of the book, Conversations with God . Dr. James Dobson talked about this book twice this week. It is devastating and parents and Christian schools need to be aware of this. Do pass it on to church/e-mail addressees, Parents, Grand parents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends.
Please pay special attention not only to what your kids watch on TV and in movie theaters and the music they listen to, but we must also be alert regarding the books they read. Two particular books, Conversations with God and Conversations with God for Teens, written by Neale D. Walsch , sound harmless enough by their titles alone. These books have been on the New York Times best sellers list for a number of weeks, and these publications make truth of the statement, "Don't judge a book by its cover/title."
The author purports to answer various questions from kids using the "voice of God". However, the "answers" that he gives are not Bible-based and go against the very infallible word of God. For instance (and I paraphrase), when a girl asks the question "Why am I a lesbian?" His answer is that she was born that way because of genetics (just as you were born right-handed, with blue eyes, etc.). Then he tells her to go out and "celebrate" her differences.
Another girls poses the question "I am living with my boyfriend. My parents say that I should marry him because I am living in sin. Should I marry him?"
His reply is, "Who are you sinning against? Not me, because you have done nothing wrong."
Another question asks about God's forgiveness of sin. His reply "I do not forgive anyone because there is nothing to forgive. There is no such thing as right or wrong and that is what I have been trying to tell everyone, do not judge people. People have chosen to judge one another and this is wrong, because the rule is "'judge not lest ye be judged.'"
And the list goes on. Not only are these books the false doctrine of devils, but in some instances even quote (in error) the Word of God. These books (and others like it) are being sold to school children (The Scholastic Book Club), and we need to be aware of what is being fed to our children.
Our children are under attack. So I pray that you be sober and vigilant about teaching your children the Word of God, and guarding their exposure to worldly mediums, because our adversary, the Devil, roams about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). And how many of us know that lions usually hunt for the slowest, and weakest and YOUNGEST of its prey.
Pass this on to every Believer you know. God bless! And, if in doubt, look at the books yourself.
Gal 6:9 Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don't give up.
