New Drug Craze "Bath Salt" linked to cannibalism, suicide, superhuman strength
The Miami Herald is reporting that Over the Memorial weekend and incident in Florida of a 31 year old man that was naked and eating the face off of a homeless man was shot and killed by police. Miami police did not say much on Tuesday about the attack, which took place Saturday in the shadow of The Miami Herald headquarters. Surveillance cameras from the newspaper's security which showed cars, motorcycles, pedestrians and bicyclists passing by.
The Miami Herald is also reporting that at least five different people called the police, and while police suspect Eugene was under the influence of a potent drug referred to as “bath salts,” This is not the first contact police have had with "bath salt". Earlier in the year Miami Police encountered a man that was naked and seemed to have superhuman strength. Police reported that after being tazed and nearly 12 officers on him the man was still able to take a batton away from an officer and attack one of the officers car.
Baltimore-AP is reporting a similar incident of A 21-year-old college student accused of killing a roommate told police he ate the victim’s heart and part of his brain after he died. The attack comes in the same week as a man in Miami ate away another man‘s face along a highway and wouldn’t stop until an officer shot and killed him. Witnesses say 31-year-old Rudy Eugene growled at the officer and continued to eat away. The victim, identified as 65-year-old Ronald Poppo, a homeless man who lived under the causeway, was in critical condition and will be permanently disfigured.

In many unfortunate cases, it has caused people to take their own lives. Individuals who would have otherwise never dreamed of hurting themselves have stabbed or shot themselves after taking in the chemicals in these seemingly harmless, legal bath salts.
Those who have survived remain scarred for life, both physically and emotionally. The ingredients work by sending the brain into an "survival" mode, sometimes causing extreme aggression and even temporary super-human strength. Other drugs like PCP, LSD and Cocaine can cause the same type of reaction, but Bath Salts can put the user into this mode for several hours, or even days, at a time.

On August 4, the Bay County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call. When they arrived, a man answered the door with a T-Shirt wrapped around his eyes and a butcher knife in his had.

Snorting bath salts, a very new a deadly trend that has been growing across the nation with the kids. These bath salts have names like “White Lightening,” and “Hurricane Charlie” and they are sold for snorting, not bathing!
The bath salts are legally sold, but they are used for getting high. Snorting, smoking, and injecting are the ways the kids are ingesting this deadly substance.
“These “bath salts” are not regulated by the DEA, but they are now under federal scrutiny. The bath salts are similar to methamphetamine abuse,” according to Fox News. The deadly bath salts contain the chemicals mephedrone and methylenedioxypyrovalerone also called MDPV. This is not in every bath salt sold, just certain bath salts contain these chemicals and these are the ones that the kids are going after to use as a drug.
Sold as bath salts, they are not used as bath salts and this drug causes massive hallucinations. It is during these hallucinations that people are dying. One father talked with Fox News about his son taking his own life while under the influence of this “bath salt” drug. He killed himself while under the influence and unable to get rid of the hallucinations.
Friends this is rapidly becoming an epidemic in just over a year-- faster than any other drug. People have figured out how to manufacture and distribute it under the radar and legally. Please let's do our part to try and stop this drug craze.
