Several people shared images of what they claimed to be the meteor, although they were called out as "fake" by other Twitter users. Meanwhile, media members on Twitter were still trying to authenticate this 'security camera' photo shared by
@magaman on Friday night.

People took to Twitter to warn others not to be duped by fake photos.
Apparently a bright meteor was just seen on US east coast. Beware of fake pix! Looking for reliable ones.
Remember people, google has reverse image search now so before you go reposting a supposed image of the meteor go verify it.

There must be literally thousands of frightful, horrid, ugly and agonizingly painful ways for humanity to meet it's demise. It would seem however, that the foreknowledge of a certain grisly or tortuous means of death or worse yet - to actually see it coming and not be able to do anything but await it's arrival is exactly what gives it such exquisite and universal appeal ( as witnessed in across the board media of late ), especially when thunderous events occur to remind us of our fragility and insignificance.
