DEEPEST Oil Well in History...

Wiki Facts!

Excerpt~

In September 2009, the rig drilled the deepest oil well in history at a vertical depth of 35,050 ft (10,683 m) and measured depth of 35,055 ft (10,685 m).[8] On April 20, 2010, when drilling at the Macondo Prospect an explosion on the rig caused by a blowout killed eleven crewmen and ignited a fireball with flames visible from 35 miles away.[9] The resulting fire could not be extinguished and, on April 22, 2010, Deepwater Horizon sank, leaving the deep underwater well gushing as the massive ongoing Gulf of Mexico offshore oil spill.[10]

I actually was not aware that this is the deepest oil well ever drilled.  The deepest bore ever drilled is 40,000 feet by the Russians.  They decided not to do it ever again!  Why, I wonder? Well, being as our wonderful oil spill was drilled 5,000 feet below the surface of the water, doesn't that make it as deep into the earth as the Russian's hole?
