The largest earthquake to hit the Eastern Bay this week isn't an ominous sign in the opinion of GNS Science.
A four point three jolt yesterday morning was part of a series of six which hit over 6 hours.
Seismologist Warwick Smith says they can't say what will happen next.
He says it does have scientists wondering but it would be alarmist of them to make a call.
Mr Smith says the earthquakes which struck near Matata are part of a two year intermittent swarm.
