One is the Juan de Fuca Plate and the other is an area in the south Pacific that has three plates meeting underneath the anomaly.... HOWEVER, the hot/cold butterfly follows the plate edges exactly! Something big is developing again down in the south Pacific. New Zealand's GNS service told their press today not to fear a bigger quake following the 9 quakes in a cluster over last five days.
